Scar tissue after 2nd degree tear (birth)

I had a 2nd degree tear during labour last November. I had quite a lot of internal stitches and found it quite painful for quite a while afterwards, even after a couple of months. I checked with my gynaecologist (I was living abroad) in January and he said that there were some internal stitches which hadn't dissolved but that they would eventually - he couldn't reach them to remove them as they were in the layers underneath the top layer of skin. I'm now 5 months pp and I have quite hard scar tissue around my vagina opening. It doesn't hurt generally but is tender when touched. I've been anxious about having sex again due to worrying about this scar tissue and pain. My husband understands I'm anxious about it but we'd both like to have sex again at some point! I've been too anxious to try and being anxious doesn't help either! I wondered if there is anything I can do about the scar tissue to soften it? Has anyone else had this and does the tenderness go away? I've recently moved back to the UK so can't see my gyno anymore but can a doctor do anything about it anyway?

Maybe try massaging the perineum with oils. And use lube during sex

Thank you! Are there specific oils to use for this?
