Do you have a Bosch / Neff oven - how do you remove the bulb cover

I have a Bosch series 8 oven and the bulb has gone. I've tried unscrewing the plastic cover when the oven was warm but not luck.

Any ideas how to remove it. It just won't budge!

Hi there. You need to contact Neff and they will supply a plastic 'tool' to remove the cover. They also sell the bulbs, but these are cheaper elsewhere.

Be prepared for the bulb to go regularly, especially when using the extra heat roasting setting. ( forget what they call it.)

Thanks. I've just spoken to them and they suggested heating the oven and then trying which I've already done.
Next suggestion was to break it with brute force and buy another cover!

The guy I spoke to didn't recommend the tool as apparently it'll be useless in my case!

Dh says swiftly tap it with a screwdriver at the side carefully to break grease seal itms

Ach sorry about that !

I have zero practical skills ( got a handyman in to wield the device!) so was excited to see someone else had an issue I might be able to solve!

Hope you get it sorted somehow.

Haha, my Neff oven light didn't work for YEARS because I couldn't work out how to get to it.

Then the element went, so I had an engineer out, and I said "while you're here...." Honestly, I'd forgotten what a joy it is being able to see your food cooking. 😆

I am determined to get the damn thing off. I use my oven almost daily and its only been a few days that it's gone and its driving me mad not being able to see what's happening to my cakes!

Before resorting to breaking I have ordered a strap wrench and will see how that fares. I will report back.

Rubber gloves and brute force did it for me. IIRC it unscrews to the right not the left like you'd expect.

Woah, no! It clearly states anti clockwise on the manual. I'm pushing to the left- I don't want it tightening even more!

The thing is, the cover is at the top surrounded by the grill element so you can barely access it with your fingers let alone a tool. Really stupid design.

Did you read my suggestion about a swift tap with a screw driver between metal and glass to loosen it

Worked for us in Neff oven

yellowsuninthesky · 25/04/2022 15:07

I got mine cleaned and the guy who cleaned it knew how to get the bulb out and replaced the bulb as well as making the whole oven shiny!

Words · 25/04/2022 16:05

I don't think I would buy a Neff again. The bulb issue is ridiculous - the one good thing is once the cover is off, it is easier to take off the next time to replace the bulb. And you will need to replace that bulb! I think I am on my third in ten years or so now.

Thread derail alert: also have a Neff hob. Also terrible design, super difficult to clean and re fitting the metal surrounds/ covers for the burners is really irritatingly difficult.

Naff Neff, I say!

woodhill · 25/04/2022 16:24

Our thermostat went but luckily DH fitted another

I find one part of the oven is hotter when cooking

Hobb has been good

Words · 25/04/2022 16:57

I get the uneven heat too woodhill.

The hob is great, love the five burners and the different sizes, especially the huge middle one. But cleaning the damn thing is a nightmare.
