Matted baby hair help!

88emmy · 25/04/2022 08:36

My 2 month old woke up with terrible matted hair. Impossible to brush. Have tried to wash it and brush it whilst wet and it doesn't work.
I don't really want to rush and cut it as it's sooo long and beautiful 🥲 any tips? Would anything work? Is there a miracle product to help with this?

TIA xx

You need to soak it in conditioner and gently and slowly comb it through, not brush, with something like a tangle teezer.

How much hair does your baby have to get matted at 2months old?!

Put baby oil on it leave it for a bit then wash it out . How long is your baby's hair that it's matted,

Yes, comb don't brush

Start combing at the bottom of the hair and gradually work your way up towards the scalp. Much easier to clear tangles but by bit, rather than trying to clear the full length of hair in one go. Also firmly hold the hair above where you are combing as this makes it less painful.

Do it on wet hair with lots of conditioner.

Thanks all for your helpful advice. Will try today

Haha I'm sorry it sounds like a made up post 🙈 but he's got lots of it past his ears 😅

Everyone says not to worry as it might all fall off soon anyway but what if it doesn't .. I'd like to try a few things before cutting it 🙈

Olive oil. Warm it up, leave on for a few hours and rinse off.

Mrsjayy · 25/04/2022 09:48

Actually olive oil is probably better than my suggestion of baby oil.

This detangler is good, if you can get hold of any (local kids' salon?), or this (the latter is technically for dogs but works for small humans too!)

My daughter always had very knotty and matted hair as a baby. I really recommend the Johnson's 'no more tangles' shampoo, conditioner and spray. And also using a 'tangle teezer' to brush the knots out after spraying it with the Johnson's 'no more tangles kids spray'. I know it sounds expensive, but the bottle's last me over 3 months and I wash my daughter's hair every day.

Why would it fall off?

Sorry not trying to be goady. Never heard of it - is that really a thing?

Yes baby hair can fall out I mean it grows again so they are not bald forever
