Can anyone help me choose a freeview box, been looking for hours and have no idea what I need.

As above, I need a freeview box that runs off the WiFi and that doesn't have an Ariel, I've looked at hundreds and I'm not sure what to get. Is it even a thing to get one that just runs from the WiFi?

Could someone help me pick one please?

TIA Flowers

Do you ‘need’ all the freeview channels?

We use a fire stick and a Now TV one so have everything we need to watch on demand and catch up (films, series and iPlayer etc).

Obviously we pay for the Now Tv one monthly and we have a fire stick through having Amazon prime so it all depends on if you want any ongoing costs or subscriptions.

If you haven't got an aerial so you'll be streaming only then you could probably just get a firestick or a Roku box.

I literally need one channel, a lady I know was talked into getting sky glass, but she only really watches one of the freeview channels and she is really upset, I couldn't hook my old free view box up as she doesn't have an ariel.

I've been looking fir ages and don't know what to get her.

Which channel?

I just have an amazon firestick and occasionally take a subscription out to beitbox or nowtv if there's something I want to watch

That looks like a good option, op

WeDontShutUpAboutBruno · 24/04/2022 21:57

Its spotlight tv she watches, so channel 500 on freeview I think.

Thank you so much for that link, I'll check if she has the bit in her TV for a firestick tomorrow.

Its such a shame she was sold it under the agreement it had that particular channel.

You'd be better spending the money on getting an aerial installed then you could just watch freeview on your telly.

Or if you don't mind about watching live, get a chromecast, download the app for the channel you want and cast your programmes from your phone onto your telly. The success of this depends on the channel you want - if bbc pretty much everything is available on demand.

Then she needs to get a refund. If she doesn't watch streaming services or sky, why on Earth would she buy a sky tv?!?

That's a whole different story, I'm currently trying to sort it out for her, it's a struggle because it's been more than 2 weeks since it was installed (apparently this makes a difference). I'm pretty sure they cold called and conned her into it tbh.

I'll maybe have a look at getting an aerial installed instead if that will be the easier option.

Thanks for all the help

Check the firestick receives spotlight first, I don't remember seeing it (but then I don't watch that channel)...I'd look for you but I'm out tonight!

An internal aerial should work fine for picking up freeview.
