Looking at one of these and seeing if anyone has any insight they can give me.

Currently have a focus but it's a bit on the small side for me.

Will be going for a Tekna model, around 2015.

Anyone on here have one that they can give me some insight into owning one please? Read a few reviews etc and they all seem positive

Thank you

They're pretty small, the boot in particular.

Bluevelvetsofa · 24/04/2022 09:46

I had one a few years ago. 2016 Tekna, I think. I didn’t keep it very long, but that was more to do with the misogynistic Nissan garage than the car. Several small things went wrong with it- the satnav failed after a couple of weeks and the battery had to be replaced because it was one of a bad batch.

I liked the driving position, it was relatively comfortable and had enough gadgets, but I much preferred the Skoda Karoq I replaced it with.

DappledOliveGroves · 24/04/2022 09:48

We've driven a Qashqai since 2016 and are on our second one. I love them. Both have been diesel and they have nice torque and speed, but our neighbour has a petrol version and is underwhelmed by its lack of acceleration.

I absolutely love the kit that comes with the tekna- heated seats and the 360 camera is brilliant - I couldn't be without it as we live somewhere with tight parking and it's a godsend.

The boot isn't massive but can get pushchair in it fine.

Overall I love the Qashqai but would only get the diesel version.

back row and boot are tiny considering the width of the car.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 24/04/2022 10:00

I've driven two of them over the years - a 2012 and a 2015. Great practical family cars and brilliant value for money. I loved the 360 camera and miss it now I don't have one in my much more expensive car.

They are not a smooth ride though. We use to say it was like driving a bumper car!

Saying that I'd get one again as you do get a lot of kit for you money.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 24/04/2022 10:04

If your Focus isn’t big enough, the Qashqai won’t be either. It’s pretty much the same size car, just with faux-SUV styling.

If you need bigger, you could look at a Ford C-Max or Grand C-Max, a Mondeo or Mondeo estate, or if you like Nissan an X-Trail would be a size up from the Qashqai.

JazzApple · 24/04/2022 10:05

I’ve had one and I found it devoured petrol.

Like @Bluevelvetsofa I had bad experiences with the Nissan garage.

ShadowPuppets · 24/04/2022 10:05

We test drove one but decided against it due to boot size - if I’m driving something that wide I want the benefit of it! Went with a Kia Sportage in the end and managed to get one with the bells and whistles for the same price as the basic Qashqai which was a bonus.

Allthegoodnamesaregoneffs · 24/04/2022 10:54

Thanks, I used to have a Mondeo so think I've been spoilt with boot size in the past as that was huge.

I do like the Sportage as well, but find the Qashqai has more of the gadgets that I want in the car.

Hate looking for a new car 😂

We've got a 2013 petrol version and personally find boot size fine. We've been on family (2 adults/2 older teens) holidays to Holland with it. Find it nice to drive both town and motorway, and cheap. My only issue is it struggles up hills especially when fully loaded.

fuckedoffnow · 24/04/2022 17:40

I had a one as a company car. Loved it. When it had to go back I got a jaguar e pace. Not a patch on the qashqui.

OctopusSay · 24/04/2022 17:43

I had a 2013 (I think) Tekna. The car itself was fine, boot not huge but for me a good balance between big enough and not having to drive a huge car.

But I had the 1.6 petrol engine and OMG it was sluggish. I'm not used to fast cars, my current car is a 1 litre Ford, but the Qashqai struggled on even slight inclines.

Windypants21 · 24/04/2022 17:46

My brother had a Hyundai Tucson, loved it and spacey too.

GoodSoup · 24/04/2022 17:50

We’ve got a Renault Kadjar which is the same base, cheaper car. It’s great.

Peopleshouldsmilemore · 24/04/2022 18:24

Bloody love mine. Got the 1.5L diesel ntec. Costs half as much to fill the tank as my old petrol Rav4 and is smooth and pretty powerful to drive. Love my panoramic sunroof too. No negatives from me!

Snowflakes1122 · 24/04/2022 18:32

Used to have one. Depends on how many passengers you usually have. We struggled when all seats were being used, as the rear middle seat is very skinny.

Found it rather underpowered too. Although the reverse camera was pretty handy, and it never let us down in the time we had it.

RewildingAmbridge · 24/04/2022 18:35

Not fancy but I've got a Citroen c4 and the boot space is great

theshavenraven · 24/04/2022 18:43

The problem with most SUV's is that they have a big cabin and a small boot. We had a Tiguan and the boot was tiny

My advice is to take all your family stuff with you on a viewing and load it in to the boot and see what you think

GettinPiggyWithIt · 24/04/2022 18:46

Mine was the worst car ever - had one for 15 months.

we still Shudder when we see one

endless Dpf problems

nissan are worse than useless and write cars off rather than investigating them too -
please bear that in mind!

like op said - boot small

utter garbage

DoubleShotEspresso · 24/04/2022 18:47

Love ours
Fits 4 very comfortably lots of leg room in the back. 5 is a squeeze but very much doable.
Boot space wise am able to fit a ahem considerable Costco visit splurge with no issue and have managed days out bf all relevant clobber etc.
Sat nav is perfectly fine but prefer to use Waze - all my phone apps connect well .
Gizmos we found for similar money far outweigh the natural competitors- very pleased overall. I like the slightly higher driving position, feels roomy and appreciate dual heating controls too.

Would highly recommend.

wishitwasaduvetday · 24/04/2022 19:13

Another vote for the Kia Sportage. My brother has a qashqai and my sportage is much better. Much more room in it. Re gadgets I suppose it depends what your looking for. Mine has dab radio, Apple CarPlay works well on it and it has a good reversing camera.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 24/04/2022 19:16

I have the qashqai +2 and it's been great, it has a big boot and 2 extra mini seats you can pop up if you need to carry extra kids. Nite the extra row of seats is not suitable for bigger people though.

Great fuel economy and I like the higher seat position

IHeartMac · 24/04/2022 19:20

We had a 2015 Tekna and had so many issues, it was automatic and needed a huge repair (which Nissan funded thankfully) within the first 3 years. The boot wasn’t big enough for us but I do really miss the parking 360 cameras.

MrsMingech · 24/04/2022 19:23

I was about to come on here and say the boot is tiny but I see it's already been mentioned.

I had the Peugeot SW 308 estate which was brilliant and affordable.

C-Max are good but I killed two of them and always wondered if it was me or the car, turned it Peugeot just in case.

Allthegoodnamesaregoneffs · 25/04/2022 08:56

All the people mentioning the boot being small, I looked at the figures and my focus is 319 litres and the qashqai is 430 litres, so I do gain boot space.

Or do you mean the boot is small in relation to the size of the car?

I'm going to look at one later today
