How do woodlice get upstairs?

And what is it they're after?
I live in a 4 bedroom semi in suburbs and we fairly regularly have woodlice visiting.
There's often one in the bath upstairs and I often wonder - how did it get there? Did he crawl all the way up the drainpipe?! Wander in the back door, crawl up the stairs and into the bath? Get through the wall via osmosis?!

How did you get there little woodlouse and what attracted you to my bath 🤔 it's a fairly hostile environment for any living thing tbh.

I have them too I have no idea where they come from.

Maybe they blow in through the window.

I've found one halfway up our stairs many a time. Seems like a heroic effort with those tiny legs, and I don't know why they bother as it's not the ideal environment for them!

I do like woodlice.

They always seem like the cows of the insect world.

And silverfish. Amazing weird things.

You don't have a child who may be collecting or transporting them upstairs do you?

My DS made "woodlice hotels" in the back garden with leaves and twigs in a shoe box when he was about 4... Hours of entertainment.
I'm sure he'd have been keen to bring them in as small pets

Silverfish urghhh! Can manage woodlice and ants (few on my worktop at the moment for some reason. But silverfish don't have personalities 😂

Woodlice are not insects, they are crustaceans and related to lobsters, crabs etc. They need a damp environment to hatch their eggs, hence their interest in your bathroom.

They have tiny invisible elevators
