Why does my tooth hurt so much 4 weeks after a filling?

Dentist said it was quite a deep filling and said “we’ll see how it goes, you might need root canal or even extracted “.

I can’t eat on that side still, just made the mistake of trying and now in agony. If I don’t eat on it then it’s not really painful. Does it just need a bit longer to settle down? I don’t really want to go back as I’m a wuss!

May have bruised the root or damaged the root of a very deep filling. Root canal or extraction may be the only thing that stops the pain in the root. By 4 weeks I would expect it to be lessening if the filling is going to be successful

Thanks, think I’ll give it another week and then ring up.

No go sooner rather than later.
If there is still infection it could kill the tooth off.

The bite may not be right and need taking down a bit since you had the filling. It may be causing you to grind your teeth causing the pain when you do bite down.
