Hello all! What's everyone up to today?

Bit later than usual today! I was up and out early for a First Aid course, 2 hours away from home...no quiet brew this morning.

Dd1's gone to town with her friends, with strict instructions to buy me a plant pot for my aloe vera plant.

Dd2's having the day with their dad; I don't think they're doing much of anything. Maybe a wander to McDonald's for dinner.

When I get home, I plan to have a glass or two of wine & chill with my crochet for a bit.

What about all of you? 🙂

It's getting on for 8pm Sat night here ...
Haven't felt myself today. It just feels like I'm always looking after everyone else and no time for me.
DH is watching telly, Girls (20 and 19) are in their rooms watching telly I'm guessing and the cat is playing with my feet.

Pegasussnail · 23/04/2022 12:51

Hi Lucysmam
I've literally just repotted my aloe Vera plant ! 11

monicagellerbing · 23/04/2022 13:03

Just got home from a kids' party 2 hours of hell. Just finishing a cuppa and might have a lie down. DH going to take the dog and kids for a long walk so I'll have the house to myself for a few hours. Bliss.

Then tonight we having burger and chips for tea and will look for a film. Nothing on tomorrow as yet

UsernameTaken76 · 23/04/2022 15:47

I went for a hot stone massage that DH had booked and paid in advance for me this morning. We did the food shop and have been baking since. My friend asked for a cream tea as her birthday present so we’ve made fruit scones, cheese scones and wild garlic & cheddar scones. The kitchen smells wonderful!

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 23/04/2022 15:50

I became a grandparent today

heyho2015 · 23/04/2022 15:50

Phew @lucysmam - thought you'd left us!

Quiet day. DD has gone back to uni, and somehow her room is worse than when she lived here full-time....

Takeaway pizza later with DS1 and DS2, Netflix and wine 🍷 👌

Burnt0utMum · 23/04/2022 15:51

Took kids to their swimming lessons this morning then been out to buy some food storage containers and spent the afternoon sorting the kitchen cupboards. Trying to get on get the house in order but only really have Saturday afternoons free to get things done so it's a very gradual process.

Ragruggers · 23/04/2022 15:57

I went to the plant swap and book stall today at the church also a spring fair going on.A tall man with a beautiful dog started chatting,he didn’t look familiar the clothes were the give away I suppose.Very pleasant chat with him and said he was going to The Minack theatre then someone said do you know who that is,no it’s Russell Brand ,He has 2 shows this weekend both sold out. That was. my morning.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 23/04/2022 15:58

Congratulations, @jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey !

Uneventful morning just pottering. I did the Aldi click and collect while DP took DD to the park.

Noodle and veg stir fry for lunch, then out
to try out a local group for children with DD’s disability. Total disaster - DD sat in her buggy alternately crying and chanting “I want to go home”. So we did. Now curled up on the sofa with a mug of tea and an M&S mini lemon-drizzle cake while DD watches crap on her tablet and DP does some sketching.

I’m out for dinner with friends this evening and DP will have some time to himself. Think we’re both looking forward to it!

PopGoesBang · 23/04/2022 15:58

@jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey congratulations!

We've done the food shop. Dp has made a curry for himself to have while watching the boxing. We've carried on with renovating the bedroom ceiling painted and coving painted, old wallpaper stripped. Still a million things to do.
Dp currently out with dog, I'm having a lie down, 6 months pregnant and have felt insanely tired until this moment. Bathing the dog on his return and then a chilled evening i think.

dipdye · 23/04/2022 16:01

DD has her first gymnastics class today so I'm there now. Seems to be going well.

Not sure what dh is doing with DS, some sort of outdoor activity I hope.

Weather is forecast to be decent all day so this PM we'll be in the garden.

Simonjt · 23/04/2022 16:08

I had three rugby tots sessions this morning, it was very windy which made for a few grumpy children. My husband took the baby to baby sensory, she is a bit grumpy too, we think shes teething.

Tonight me and my son are making pizzas and cake for tea. Once he is in bed we’re going to start watching heatstopper.

@jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey Congrats 😍

lucysmam · 23/04/2022 16:14

@jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey how wonderful! Huge congratulations Thanks

@heyho2015 no 🤣 I was just up stupidly early to get out for 7am <yawn>

We're just on the way home now, after a wander to Pounstretcher for a few bits. Most of it unnecessary randomness for the girls but 🤷‍♀️

Painted all my back garden fences. The garden is now finished

Natsku · 23/04/2022 16:38

DD's circus school was open to family to go watch for the first time since the pandemic so went to watch dd and the others show off their circus skills. Was very impressed with some of them, doing backflips while using the long skipping rope, or jumping push ups with the skipping rope. DD walked on a bowling ball. Was a lovely way to spend an hour.

Apart from that I've been baking a cake (applesauce and marzipan with almond toffee topping) which fell apart when I took it out of the tin. OH is currently cooking dinner. DS is jumping on the sofa and DD is disapproving.

houseargh · 23/04/2022 17:05

Day started at a time that began with 4 (thanks DD, and teething?!). Once the rest of the world had caught up we were out to Costa for morning snack and then the playground, to give DP a bit of chill time at home because now I am at a spa with my mum for a pre-wedding treat and first night away from DD (and because, between DD and COVID and other things it feels like we haven't had time for a proper catch up in about two years).

Normally these threads fill me with a mix of envy and hope for the future - DD still at the stage where she needs input pretty much All The Time. And the thought of time to potter or actually do a thing while the kids entertain themselves is unimaginable. So yeah, it is really nice to read about all your chilled sounding days when for once my answer is not 'wake up at 5, read the Very Hungry Caterpillar 750 times over, do life admin during naptime, play Mega Bloks, pass out'.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 23/04/2022 17:49

Love these threads! Awake early as DH’s alarm went off at 6.30 but dozed til 8. Chilled morning watching Heartstopper (@Simonjt it’s really good! Nice to spend time with DD13 as she’s obsessed with it. Watched a bit of Saturday Kitchen then dropped DD into town to meet her friends. I’d made a bacon sandwich for breakfast then had egg & bacon sandwich filling sandwiches for lunch. Oh yes & I popped to the library to borrow a load of piano music on the way home from dropping DD. Collected DD earlier than expected as she was feeling rough with her period. Fed the bunnies & swapped them over ( all four can’t go out together as they fight). Popped to Tesco Express for a few bits. I’d already shopped at Co op when I dropped DD off. Keep meaning to get more organised so I don’t need to do top up shops. It was really hot & sunny for a while so I thought about sitting in the garden with a book but ended up playing the piano & cleaning the kitchen. Thinking very hard about doing the bathroom too! DH & I are looking at loads of websites, brochures etc to completely transfer the bathroom. We also want to lay laminate flooring everywhere ( already down in the lounge & DD’s room), decorate our bedroom & loads of other stuff. DH finished work at 5 but isn’t home yet as he’s gone to the car wash. He’s making sausage pasta for tea. Going to watch BGT then more Greys Anatomy.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 23/04/2022 18:39

@Plantsandpuddlesuits I love going round the charity shops. The Hospice shop near us used to have a massive warehouse at the back, crammed with absolute bargains. Four items of clothing for £1, 3 board games for £1, beautiful bric a brac 3 for £1, jewellery, shoes, scarves, handbags & the most amazing selection of coffee table books which were mostly immaculate. I got 2 beautiful cookery books for £2 each. There were also loads of DVDs & CDs. Really miss it. There’s another small branch in town though & they always have really good clothes. The Air Ambulance shop is fab too & a really good cause.

I actually got my wedding dress from Oxfam. (years ago though!) Was £150!
