Alton Towers advice please!

Hello,
I'd like to take my DC to Alton Towers in the summer. I just wanted to know if one day would be enough? I haven't been since 1996 myself and remember it was quite big but not sure what it's like nowadays. My DC aren't fans of the big, scary kind of rides so we wouldn't need to worry about queuing for those.
Anyone done it in one day or is it recommended to stay over and do a second day?
Thank you

I personally think a day is enough if they don't like the big rides

Thank you yes I think so. They would like to go on everything apart from the big, upside down type of things.

One day should be enough if you pay extra for queue jumping

Depends on whether you want to do all the big rides etc. If so you would need 2 days, plus everything is vastly spread out so lots of walking in between. We live 40 minutes away and husband and daughter are debating whether 2 get a 2 day pass next time as they still feel a day isn't enough.

Hi - it's busy from the school holidays onwards. One day is sufficient outside of these times. Sometimes the annual passes are worth it and there is currently a sale on for all of Merlin's attractions which include Thorpe Park, Chessington etc: Merlin turning to annual pass to aid recovery | RideRater

It really depends on when you go and how long the queues are. If you stay in one of the hotels you get early ride time on some of the ride so can get a few in before other people arrive. Plus if you stay over you can do the waterpark as well.

Fab thanks for all replies (I'm the OP but name changed) staying over sounds great, I'll look into it price wise and see how it works out. The waterpark would be great with the kids
