What to do re BA voucher

We have ended up having to cancel a big trip due to covid reasons. As a result we've got a BA voucher for about £4000. We've booked one holiday but know we won't be able to afford enough trips to use it up by the deadline September 2023.

I've offered a discount to friends who might travel but so far, no takers.

Has anyone got any ideas of what we can do to get some of the cash back?

We can't rebook the original trip and are struggling for cash so would like to sell it or part of it if we can.

Any ideas welcome!

I just used a voucher I had and frankly it wouldn't be good value to other people to buy from you. The flights I bought were over £200 more than other airlines but I just wanted to make sure I used my voucher up because like you I wouldn't otherwise use it.

Can you find an all inclusive holiday, no additional charges?

onlyconnect · 23/04/2022 13:33

It can’t be used for holidays. Flights only.
yoh are allowed to buy flights for other people with them. I have offered a discount to friends but no takers do far because, yes, it’s still a very expensive airline

MY DH couldn't use mine. We have about £1500 and are getting through them slowly.

could you not buy some flights and then sell the flights? OR could you not use them to book flights for say next year, they have to be used by september but surely that doesnt mean you have to book the flights for before then? you could book the flights for like next winter for example.

Or book flights and then sell the flights

Seraphinesupport · 23/04/2022 13:38

or gift it , ill take them <3 Haha joke

Dammit, we’re trying to use vouchers from flights to part pay for a flights + hotel BA holiday but are really struggling to find out if it’s possible. Sounds like not.

LIZS · 23/04/2022 13:49

We've finally been contacted this week to swap our vouchers for cancelled BA flights from April 2020 for a refund. Might be worth asking if you can do similar.

There are a few for sale on eBay so maybe that’s an option? The discounts sellers are offering would put me off as too much hassle for a small amount but on a substantial voucher a decent reduction might interest someone.

Thank you I’ve listed it on eBay

Thank you I’ve listed it on eBay

You have no legal protection doing that - the person can claim non delivery and get a PayPal refund

Yes, I know it’s risky but I’ve got a few ideas to make it as safe as possible.
I’m a bit stumped as to what to do otherwise.
