New fear of theme park rides - is it just me?

I have always been a fan of rollercoasters. DH and myself used to go to Alton Towers every year without fail before we had DS. Now DS who is 9 and also loves rides is at a height where he can go on the big rides and I am finding this terrifying! I keep thinking what if it goes wrong and he gets hurt or worse. I know I am being crazy and I would never stop him going on them but is it just me who thinks like this?

I do too , and it’s not like Alton Towers doesn’t have form for accidents either now so I think it’s justified.

I think being a parent heightens your fear of stuff like this, as you’ve got someone relying on you, plus getting older does it too IMO.

I think you get attuned to every possible risk, don't you. Especially if you've got really caught up in cot death prevention and preparing formula the exact right way and having the right car seat that you use to the right age etc - we're almost trained to see these tiny little miniscule chance risks as being big important dangers. Whereas it was never really like that before parenting on the internet, we had a bit more of a balanced perception of risk IMO.
