Who has the most annoying hold music?

On hold to HMRC and they’re playing the same 2 tones over and over but it’s not yet doing my head in (only 23 minutes in…) and I’m reminded of being on hold to the Disney store for 76 minutes on Christmas and they played the same Aristocats song over. And over. And over. And over.

I also hate Virgin Business hold music because I’ve spent so many wasted fucking hours on hold to them it makes me murderous

DWP by a mile. It pauses every fifteen seconds or so as if its been answered so you have to give it 100% of your attention while waiting even if you are on hold for an hour.

My GP. I'm humming it in my head now 😩 dreadful tune interrupted by one of the GPs (who is a pompous twat) apologising for the delay every minute or so.

EDF Energy used to (may still do, I’m no longer a customer) play ‘Electric Dreams’ really fecking loudly. I remember when we were moving house being on hold to them for what felt like days. Same with Vodafone who used to use James Bay ‘Hold Back tHe River’ but it was always the same bit and was so loud and tinny it used to hurt my ears.

Oh I hate it when they do that!!

Barclays - I was on hold for over an hour recently with the most God-awful racket playing - I swear it was on purpose, to make people give up and hang up.

I was almost nostalgic for the tediously over-used Four Seasons, and that used to drive me mad.

They do it on purpose to minimise callers. Key is to keep the phone off speaker but high volume and put down so you will hear when it stops but it won't annoy you.

At work we used to book taxis for patients going home or for appointments. We hated having to hang on the line - was rarely a quick booking. Luckily now it is all done on the ward!

However, I prefer music to nothing at all. Is there someone there or not. I do appreciate being told you are 2nd in the queue but you never realise that means waiting half an hour!!!

My doctors surgery plays a mixture of classical music and random pop/rap, It's a rollercoaster of emotions when on hold, one minute you're listening to Mozart, the next it's Eminem. There's also an added "If your problem is of an emergency nature or if the patient has stopped breathing, please hang up and dial 999 immediately" which interrupts the music every 60 seconds.
