Has anyone managed to get their hands on one? Do you think these will be worth a lot?

I've checked online and all out of stock everywhere.

I haven't tried to buy one, anyway, I think it looks like Helen Mirren being Queenie, slightly uncanny valley...

FourChimneys · 21/04/2022 18:35

The Barbie one? Yet more tat, almost certainly made in terrible circumstances in a dire factory then shipped halfway across the world?

Or have I missed something and they are being made in the UK or EU by well paid workers?

Either way it's hideous looking.

JulyDreams · 21/04/2022 18:47

Yes it's the barbie one. I agree it's hideous but I didn't want to buy it for the aesthetic it was more so if it was going to be worth a lot of money in the future! They are going on eBay for £800 Confused

Hideous. Barbie would turn in her grave.

JulyDreams · 21/04/2022 18:48

Yes it's hideous @balalake agreed it was more to see if it would be worth something that was all

there are loads up for a lot less than that, buy it now.
people may be listing them for £££’s but that doesn’t mean they will sell for that now the site has been flooded with them.

JulyDreams · 21/04/2022 20:09

@AccommodatingAlice I'll keep an eye out. Just wondering if it's worth it especially if it's left in the box and packaging

OP posts:
Ellmau · 21/04/2022 21:28

I think they nearly all will be left in their packaging though, I can;t imagine a child playing with it.

MagicMatilda · 21/04/2022 21:31

I managed to get one!!! I got it on the Mattel website this morning. I kept checking it said out of stock and then all of sudden were available again.

I'll keep looking! Was that the American website?

I imagine the market for Jubilee souvenirs will be absolutely flooded making most things valueless in years to come.

My DM treasured a Coronation mug for decades because it "might be valuable". I showed it to an antique dealer (when selling some actual antiques) and he laughed. Apparently it totally worthless. It has a new life as a pen pot in a relative's house.

MagicMatilda · 22/04/2022 08:33

Yes it was. Couldn’t find them anywhere on UK sites

I've seen so many mugs though. Are there any other barbie dolls of the queen besides the one they released yesterday?

Why do you think a Barrie doll in particular, manufactured in huge numbers, is going to be worth £££ in the future? Just curious.
Mattel we’re letting people buy 3 each so they weren’t limited edition.

Antarcticant · 23/04/2022 10:36

It looks absolutely nothing like the Queen, either now or at any previous stage in her reign. You might as well get a standard Barbie and dress it in a Queen costume.😂

I'm seeing Freddie Mercury now... 😂

Do you think these will be worth a lot?

I made the mistake of buying toys I thought might go up in value when the DC were small. Kept them pristine in boxes for thirty odd years and have now sold them for an average of £30 or so.

If I'd known, I'd never have bothered. If the jubilee dolls are ever going to be worth much it's likely to be many years down the line and even then they're not going to be particularly rare as many others will have the same idea.

Do you want the hassle of storing them and keeping them damage free for decades?

Wouldn't come in an unopened box though 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m gutted. My stepdaughter loved Barbie with a passion and I really wanted to buy her one as a silly present.

AmyDudley · 23/04/2022 13:55

I'm guessing they are purely for collectors. The idea of a child having a Queen Barbie (and taking all its Queen clothes off, dressing it in a mini skirt and possibly cutting its hair as my kids used to do with Barbie) is a bit weird.

Crankley · 23/04/2022 14:17

It's for sale on Amazon for £19.99 (out of stock), Simon's Collectables for £84.99 (out of stock) and Ebay from £350 upwards. I wouldn't mind but it looks nothing like the Queen! I hope lots are manufactured and the Ebay sellers get stuck with them.

PleaseYourselfandEatTheCrusts · 25/04/2022 09:59

I don't think it looks like her. If I was the queen I wouldn't be happy with it!
