Hi my daughter has been awarded high rate care
I’m just wondering so universal credit backdate my payments from when my Daughters Dla was awarded as I can’t seem to find any informed on this I have left so many messages on my journal and no one is getting back to me I’ve also reported change in circumstances just when I spoke to DLA they said they should back date it from when they did and also she mentioned something about my rent element increasing

Someone on universal messed up on my account because although I have only just added my daughters Dla claim I have been a carer for over a year and universal were aware of this but I didn’t know about the carers element until a friend asked me why I don’t get it so I asked universal and they said they are going to work out what they owe me from December 2020 which is good

Lo12345 · 29/04/2022 10:23

@Toritot1984 yes they will
owe you a fair bit then that’s why they need to probably work it out cos will be alot !
how many weeks was yours with the decision maker ? They are saying it can be around 4 weeks I had a message yesterday saying thwy have told the decision maker to look at my child premium element and carers element to be backdated but they take forever the communication is awful

OP posts:
Toritot1984 · 29/04/2022 10:26

It was with the decision maker about 2 weeks before I had the phone call yesterday

Hiya did anyone receive a letter like this before they backdated your payments ?

I got that on my journal and then they rang me to say they needed to do some calculations

Lo12345 · 03/05/2022 18:32

@Toritot1984 yeah they have just messaged on my journal to say they are in the middle of calculating the payment which will take few days they said should have payment Friday / Monday

Lo12345 · 04/05/2022 21:00

@Toritot1984 have they sorted all out for you now ?

OP posts:
Toritot1984 · 04/05/2022 21:06

No, when he rang he said he would be doing the calculations by the end of Wednesday(today) but I’ve heard nothing so hopefully I’ll hear something tomorrow

Lo12345 · 05/05/2022 15:25

Mines already been done I’m confused though will the carers element be deducted from my monthly allowance? Or is that carers allowance that’s does that ?? Is cares element just a top up each month on top of UC

OP posts:
Toritot1984 · 05/05/2022 17:17

The carers element is a top up, mines still not sorted I’ve just rang them and he said it should be done by 6 today

Toritot1984 · 05/05/2022 18:27

They haven’t sorted it yet so I have to ring back first thing in the morning the guy I spoke to today said it was urgent because no one responds on the journal and they had a deadline to get it done by 6

Lo12345 · 05/05/2022 20:18

@Toritot1984 oh is that’s good I wasn’t sure if they deducted it of my monthly income as I hared it’s classed as income but think that maybe carers allowance that does that ??

seriously they shouldn’t keep you waiting like this hopefully they get it sorted for you tomorrow morning they just said my payment will be in the bank within 3 working days .

OP posts:
Toritot1984 · 06/05/2022 15:54

I had to ring again and I got through to a woman that had no clue what she was talking about, she kept telling me to ring Dla, i had to correct her and tell her to read my journal and then she said I will tell someone to ring you before 6 on Monday so they are really dragging it out

Lo12345 · 07/05/2022 14:22

@Toritot1984 seriously there so bad the communication is awful I hate having to contact them your case manager should be sorting this out for you mine did it take take ages but she just said it will be in my account within 3 working days and that was Thursday so probs be Monday I’ll get it but with the way there being I doubt it will happen you used to be able to get through to them ages ago and now you can only get through for advances or query’s !

I left a message on my journal well 4 since she replied to my last one asking if the carers allowance is a top up or will it effect my monthly income as I though this was classed as I income because I know carers allowance but not heard nothing back .

ring them first thing in the morning cos they was ignoring me for so long I said I want to make a complaint and they soon got back just say you wanna make a complaint because your being ignored and no one will get back to you .

OP posts:
Lo12345 · 07/05/2022 14:24

Sorry I meant cares element I just asked if it was different to carers allowance but yeah heard nothing back since Thursday myself .
hopefully you get your payment early next weeks .
