Books to support telling your child about sex.

My 9 year old Son had a talk at school about puberty, he didn't tell me, another Mum did. When talking to some of the other Mums some of them have already had a chat with their kids about sex and I am realising maybe we should too as I'd rather he heard the truth from me than some distorted version from a school friend. Can anyone recommend any books to help along the way that maybe we could read together instead of me getting muddled with my words?

I got a great one called "let's talk about sex" it covers pretty much everything to do with puberty, and sex in easy, appropriate language.

Let's Talk About Sex www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1406356042/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_W8K9DESE8KGWDYQGW7R6

This one, no idea why I can't do the short links anymore, must have changed with the update.

If that's the Robie Harris one then I second that. Biology based too, none of this "some girls have a penis" rubbish.

Another vote for the "let's talk about..." Series. They have different ones based on age.

The Usborne ones "what's happening to me" are age appropriate, it's mainly about puberty and the sex organs, how to look after yourself rather than the physical act of sex - from what I recall, it's covered briefly and factually with regards to how a baby is made.

He may be a bit young for it but there's a really good book on Consent which is worth reading as an adult - and then sharing the information in an age appropriate way.

It's called Can We Talk about Consent? Wish I had read it twenty years ago and I am finding it helpful now as an adult.
