Contact lenses scheme

I'm with specsavers but would like to change. I'm completely fed up of the poor customer service and complicated processes. But don't want to change to another that is even worse!

So, any recommendations? Would like to minimise number of appointments if possible (specsavers ask for eye test and contact lenses check separately and contact lenses check is now 6 months after the last one....) and just have the whole process as simple as possible!

TIA

I've been using the Boots contact lens reward scheme for years. I get advantage card points, half price glasses (which is a fantastic benefit) free eye tests and contact lens checks and i have have both checks in the same appointment. Good quality lenses, I can manage it online - including making appointments and customer service are very responsive. You can also pause your subscription if you want to.

I'm very happy with it.

Lensestore

Specsavers were appalling. They spent 4 months trying to find alternative lenses as they no longer stocked mine, even though they started me with them. The lenses they wanted me to have were double the price.

I moved to Asda opticians.

I just have my lenses automatically reordered every 3 months and they are posted to my house. The contact lens check is annual, sight test every 2 years. They are pretty good at fitting them in together if you book a couple of months in advance and they have slots.

I just buy my own contact lens solution.

Thanks all. Have been thinking about Boots. Any other reviews most welcome!

Also been using Boots scheme for years and agree with everything pp said. You also get 10% off Boots own brand products which is another good benefit!

I use vision direct and I think uploaded my prescription ages ago and just buy lenses when I need them.
I pay for a contact lens check every year and my work give me an eye test voucher every 2 years.

I wear Biofinity Tories and 3 months of lenses is £37.96 with delivery and I buy Renu MPS solution probably every other order.

My optician wanted £30 a month for a contact lens plan and this is much cheaper.

Thanks! To get your lenses do you need a contact lenses check AND eye test or just one?

I haven’t actually needed to upload anything since the original time but I do have them done just because you only get one set of eyes.
I can still order lenses without them though which is good if I am quite busy.

DaySoft, been using them for years. It's £12 a month.

bargain.

I tried a few others, some savers, bubble (or is it rubbble? Hubble? Something) and a couple of other big names but DaySoft are much better.

LaCerbiatta · 21/04/2022 07:48

Thanks all, will look into these options.

Just get them online, you don't need regular check ups or anything.

I swap between visiondirect and lenstore.

Specsavers have been awful during the pandemic, treating everyone that walks in like a covid carrier. Ours had a strap over the door and God help you if you touched it to let yourself out!

actiongirl1978 · 21/04/2022 07:51

I've never had to upload a prescription.

nearlyspringyay · 21/04/2022 07:52

Vision direct here too, can't fault them

Another vote for Boots, I switched to them several years ago after an awful service from an independent optician and haven’t had any problems at all since.

Lenses posted through my letterbox every three months, can pause if you have more than you need, 50% off glasses, eye test & contact health check included. Advantage points on lenses and glasses and able to manage appointments online.

The store I visit has always allowed me to book health check and sight test together so only one visit a year, you just need to align the two so that your health check is done within the 12 month deadline so that your lense supply isn’t interrupted.

Bagelsandbrie · 21/04/2022 08:09

I’m not the biggest fan of specsavers but put up with their contact lens scheme because you get 50% off glasses every 2 years - which as someone who is extremely short sighted (-9.50 both eyes) is definitely a deal worth having for me.

Generally I’ve heard very good things about Asda opticians.

I've used daysoft for the last 5 years after trying a lot of others for 30 years. They are really comfortable and you can just go and have a check up anywhere you like once per year

Saucery · 21/04/2022 17:00

I switched from Boots to Lenstore a few years ago, as Boots withheld my lenses until I had an eye test over one Christmas . There weren’t any appointments available and they refused to hand over the lenses I had already paid for. So I went with Lenstore who treat you like an adult.

MrsPnut · 22/04/2022 18:53

I saw this thread again whilst I was scrolling earlier and ordered some more lenses from Vision Direct. Just had an email and they have been dispatched and will be here tomorrow.
