How often do you shop for groceries?

I cook a lot and keep my kitchen cupboards and freezer well stocked with basic ingredients, I shop when fresh items are running low (fruit, milk, cheese, salad stuff). I probably shop 3 times every 2 weeks with some shops bigger than others. I find I am spending less this way, 2 adults and two teens average spend £85 a week for everything.
How do you shop?

2-4 times a week depending on what I need. I work right next to one supermarket, and there's another one two mins walk. I usually go straight after work and walk back with whatever I can carry on foot (try to save on petrol by not driving).

We get a weekly Ocado delivery

Used to pop into Tesco regularly but moved during lockdown so it’s not close anymore

Once a week. I meal plan then order online to collect. Won't catch me inside a supermarket at all. I hate them.

I get an online delivery every 4 or 5 days. Means I never run out of anything, and I only ever have to meal plan 4 days at most.

I do a big online shop at the start of the month for tins, washing powder, toilet roll, booze, store cupboard, cleaning stuff etc. I then have one delivery a week and top up at Aldi or Lidl (our nearest supermarkets). So probably 4/5 online shops a month plus one or two top ups a week.

I do one big shop and then just get fresh milk, bread and fruit/veg either once or twice in the week.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 20/04/2022 11:26

usually twice a week.

Fridge space and fresh ingredients being the deciding factor... I'd shop less often with more fridge/freezer space.

Twice a week...at the beginning of the week and usually on a Friday so I have stuff for the weekend

TabithaTittlemouse · 20/04/2022 11:28

Once a week. We meal plan but are flexible to use ingredients that need using up first. I do have to go to two supermarkets though. Lidl for most of it and Waitrose or sainsburys for bits that I can’t get in Lidl.

ChimChimeny · 20/04/2022 11:35

Weekly big shop with probably 2/3 trips through the week for more milk/fruit/veg/things they didn't have for the big shop/things we've decided we want for tea that day which we didn't plan for

Big Tesco delivery every two weeks and try to buy nothing else. If we run out, which is not often, then we have to make do with something else. Honestly it has saved us so much money and would be my biggest money saving tip.
