What job could I do?

After working in marketing for the last 10 years, I’ve officially decided that I need to do something else.

I hate the office politics (even working remotely!) and find most of the work I do pretty boring. The thought of doing this for the next 30 years makes me feel really sad.

Things I like/am good at:

  • Writing
  • Reading (both fiction and non fic)
  • Organising things
  • Exercise
  • Travel
  • Animals

Things I dislike/am terrible at:

  • Numbers/reporting
  • Speaking in public
  • I’m squeamish so anything care/nursing related is out
  • Working directly with the public (worked in shops and restaurants when I was younger and hated it

Would love some advice about what job or career I could move into.

To assist with this, could you also describe what a ‘good’ or ‘great’ working day for you has/would look like?

Also, please put the following elements into the order of importance for you:

Salary level
Status or profile of you in your role
Level of Mental stimulation
Sense of belonging or team work
Sense of purpose
Ability to achieve/progress
Using a special skillset
(Other important element to you)

Good question! A good day would involve doing something quite creative, and having a good amount of ‘alone time’ to focus and brainstorm ideas etc.

Salary and status aren’t too important to me, even now.

I would like to do something stimulating, and a sense of belonging would be important to me. (It’s something I’m seriously lacking at the moment, I feel like I just don’t fit in on my team). Ideally I’d like a sense of purpose in my next job but it’s not a must-have.
