I'm going to my first gig since pre-covid times tomorrow and I think I'm going to get emotional

Just that, really, but I'm so excited I wanted to share! Live music was such a huge part of my life in the Beforetimes, DH and I would go to several shows a month. It was without a doubt the thing I missed most about lockdown/the whole thing.

I became CEV last summer just as venues were reopening and was advised not to go anywhere crowded, even after I was doubled vaxxed. It was heartbreaking seeing friends enjoying live music again while I couldn't, however happy I was for them! Well, I'm now quadruple jabbed and had covid a couple of weeks ago so I figured it's now or never. And my absolute favourite artist in the whole world is doing a show in my city tomorrow. So I'm going!

I'd love to hear what made everyone else a bit emotional when they were able to do it again after lockdowns Smile

Have a great time. Just don't get pissed or someone will start a thread about you being 'cringe'

I always feel a bit emotional at live music events anyway, and more so post-Covid. I hope you have a great time!

Fuck that, I'm going to behave as cringily as I like, it's been over two long, long years! Grin

Me too. I've missed that feeling so much.

Thank you!

Enjoy OP! I saw the Libertines (favourite band) last year and it was just sooooooo wonderful....danced and danced and danced ....joyful and so happy Pete survived lockdown

Aw nice 🙂

I'm taking DD to her first ever gig this weekend (Mitski - DD is a superfan) and her excitement is contagious. My first gig was much less cool though 🤣

Enjoy OP! Who is it btw?

OdeToSadDisco · 19/04/2022 17:37

Ooh, who is it? Enjoy!
Live music was the thing I missed most too. I went to a couple of smaller gigs end of last year/beginning of this, but my first post-Covid big one was Royal Blood a few weeks ago.

Who is it? How fabulous!

We went to our first indoor gig in March, cancelled from December and it was stunning, and DH and I both cried.

SheiIaTakeABow · 19/04/2022 19:23

This may well be outing but it's Johnny Marr. Anyone who knows me will recognise me because I've been driving everyone nuts with my excitement!

We're also going to see Peter Hook on Saturday, it's going to be the best week in ooooh, just over two years Grin

I cried at my first gig 😁 It was so emotional to be in a room with so many people again.

ShowOfHands · 19/04/2022 20:21

I saw my favourite artist twice last September and cried both times, plus my favourite band around the same time. It was overwhelming.

Similarly, I went back to the theatre last autumn and as the curtain rose, people cheered and clapped and even stood up. It was almost a spontaneous outpouring of joy at being back in a venue with fellow fans. My DS was only 10 and burst into tears. He could feel the happiness in the room.

Back to festivals this year as well I hope. Can't wait!
