Matlock/Bakewell eating out

Can anyone recommend somewhere in this area to eat? Preferably on a river which is suitable for dogs and families?

There aren't many places in Matlock that are on the river and will let dogs in. I'd say your best bet if the weather is nice is to go to the park and get food from the cafe there. Stones overlooks the river, but they don't allow dogs as far as I know.

Just checking - you didn't mean Matlock Bath as it's a different place and non-locals often get them mixed up?

The Woodyard in Bakewell gets good reviews and is by the river. The buildings are lovely there too.
