Has anyone used Klarna?

It's a payment app where you can buy online and pay in installments.

I'm new to Klarna. There's an item online that I am interested. Because there's a hefty price I am interested in paying with Klarna.

When I got for the option to pay with Klarna, and I fill in the section for a one time card, I am met with a screenshot telling me that I have reached my spending limit. I wasn't aware that there was a limit to Klarna. It's advertises that there's no limit.

It says to reduce your order total or pay some of your outstanding Klarna orders.

I don't have anything outstanding with Klarna because this is my first time using them.

I'm not able to reduce the order total.

I'm disappointed. I was hoping on paying with Klarna so I wouldn't have to take a big hit together. Instead I will have to continue to save for another few more weeks so that I can get it.

It's 760 euro.

There is a limit. I haven’t used it myself but have heard bad experiences from several people recently.

If you don’t have the money, don’t buy it. Wait and save until you have the cash. I would never consider getting into debt (even something like Klarna) unless it was a very urgent and essential purchase.

Is there anything else similar to Klarna or is Klarna the only one with this type of service?

If I was to find an order for a smaller amount would they let me spend higher? I would be apprehensive trying a 50 limit first in the hope of getting a higher limit the second time, in case it doesn't work.

Clear pay? Though you have to see what other places the website accepts as certain sites only accept certain methods of payment.

I used clear pay to buy something then the item was damaged but the website wouldn’t refund me so I had to do a charge back with my bank (I had finished paying it off) and then clear pay banned me 🤣

paypal ? I'd save up first though, never a good idea to be in debt.

I've used it a couple of times, never had any problems.

That's good advice in the main but it's not always as clear cut as that. When our cooker was deemed unsafe and unusable by the gas man, we had to buy another and had no money to buy one or time to save up for one so had to get it on credit.

Have you got PayPal? That offers a klarna style 3 payment option as well. If you've got a history with them, you should be able to borrow the full amount.

I often use for buying stuff even when I've saved up. Psychologically seems easier to spread £500 over three months (even when the money is in the bank).

I've used klarna and all is fine - just like all credit - pay back before the interest hits.

We had to use klarna for dc1's xbox x last Christmas as it was sold as a package with stuff to prevent people buying more than one. It was £700ish I think and was definitely our first order (and only). It seemed easy enough although I think they did a credit check.

I’ve used Klarna numerous times and I’ve never had any issues. Although I’m not stupid and know I can afford certain monthly payments so I’m quite happy to use it every so often.

It's probably that they won't allow you to spend that amount without successfully paying off a smaller amount first. There's a few similar services, but I don't really see the point of them, and they're poorly regulated.

An interest free spending credit card would be a better solution and you'd get payment protection in case the item is faulty or not delivered, which you don't get with Klarna or similar.

A few years ago my husband tried to open a Littlewoods credit account and immediately purchase a €300 laptop. His account was declined.

I would get an interest free credit card.

I use Zilch. You have a limit of how many companies you can use and a spending limit overall. You make your first payment and then the next installments every two weeks.

I’ve used Klarna once for a purchase. I then cancelled the account and cleared the balance as I didn’t need the credit.

However, a year to the day I cleared the whole thing Klarna attempted to take the full whack again. Luckily I saw it in my pending transactions and blocked it with the bank and reported as fraud. Klarna couldn’t do anything beyond confirm that my account was inactive and they don’t know what they tried to take payment . I would avoid them like the plague in future as I’m obsessively checking my credit score to check they haven’t marked it as a missed payment

I am going to cancel the Klarna account that I never used. PayPal pay in 3 doesn't work for me for some reason. I don't have the app and the play store was taking ages to download the PayPal app.

I applied for a creditcard online. It's interest free for 56 days. So that's my plan for when it comes. I will pay half off straight away and then pay the rest in 3 installments within the 56 days.
