Would you ask for a refund on flight seats?

Booked a flight a couple of months ago and paid extra for two reasons, so we could be together and also not to be over the wing and have a better view. In the meantime, aircraft was obviously changed to a smaller one and our seats were changed to over the wing. Would you ask for a refund?

I think normally I'd leave it, but we also had the inconvenience of a cancelled flight and a premium rate phone call to change (not sure how much this is going to be yet).

I would read the Ts&Cs carefully.

Does your booking, that you paid extra for, specify ‘extra £ to not sit over a wing’ or was it just a fee for pre booking seats and you chose ones not situated over the wing?

You can ask but I wouldn’t hold out much hope if your Ts&Cs say ‘subject to change’ anywhere.

I would ask them to change the seats before asking for a refund.

No I wouldn't. I assume you did not pay extra for those seats? You have a flight and seats. That is what you have paid for.
