What does your image mean to you?

I’ve never really been that interested in style and maintenance (particularly as don’t have much money for it) and was thinking tonight (on a low mood) maybe I would feel better about myself if I did.
What is your perception of your image ? How important is it to you?

Not much anymore tbh.
Not matter how much effort I put in my sleek, styled hair looks like I’ve been dragged through a bush within a couple of hours and I always seem to look a rumpled mess.

After a period of illness I’ve pretty much given up and am just rocking bag lady chic. I’m spending my energy on meditation, yoga, nutrition etc so I feel as well as possible rather than worrying about applying foundation, shadow & mascara because it would only end up smudged under my eyes anyway!

I think a little bit of self care does make you feel better about yourself, but that could be a long bath with a lovely candle, an hour a day with a good book or a reflexology session rather than suddenly spending hours on personal maintenance or money on style.

I hope you feel brighter soon Flowers

I like that I am known as “stylish” and that my clothes are complimented.

I enjoy clothes and like looking well put together, I don’t care quite enough to be up in the gym every morning but I certainly make an effort. It’s part of who I am

Speaking for myself I know I feel better when I’ve made an effort, whether it’s a hair wash or a new top.

If you’re feeling low perhaps a few elements of self care might help? Nothing ventured and all that

Not remotely important. I dress appropriately for the occasion but whether people think I'm stylish, well put together, bohemian, unfashionable...I really don't care.

Comfort and function are all that's important to me.

When (i feel) i look good and im in shape, it makes me a happier person.

I like going to the gym, i like putting on clothes that look good and i always do my make up before i leave the house of a morning.

On the flip side i also don't mind having panda eyes and frizzy hair after a swimming session with our DS.

I want an image and admire others but never seem to achieve it myself

carefullycourageous · 18/04/2022 20:13

I definitely have things I would wear and things I wouldn't, but I don't think it constitutes an 'image' so much as a preference.

I CBA with hair and makeup, and I'm ultra low maintenance.

My happiness comes from doing things I enjoy and the way I look doesn't matter enough to me to spend time on it.

I'm a goth and my image is quite important to me. I have a way I like to look and it's important to me that I maintain certain aspects of it, I don't wear make up everyday but my hair is almost always done. All my clothes fall into the trad goth (80's/90's) era, my nails are always black, my hair is always undercut regardless of colour. It's part of who I am as a person and I guess it is a little bit like a suit of armor, I feel more like myself when I present a certain image to the world around me.

I like to look and feel comfortable and clean. I like to be thought of as good looking so I do a bit of make up when I go out. I like to look relaxed and pretty for my husband but that doesn't take much effort. I'm fortunate to be good looking with a nice figure and the majority of my effort and money goes on my skin, as I do not want to look particularly old.

Clothes-wise though it's comfy and clean is how I describe it. I love loungewear. I do smart casual, a suit jacket with leggings and a top sets the outfit off.
