officeangel · 17/04/2022 16:44

wilbowaggins · 17/04/2022 16:46

One I see a lot is 'could of'/ 'would of', instead of could've/ would've.

It annoys me... but also makes me think those people just don't read that much.

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/04/2022 16:48

Restaurant is supposedly the most frequently misspelled word on Google. But I assume that's because it's something a lot of people are looking for.

Fireyflies · 17/04/2022 16:48

I struggle with dependent and dependant. I've also been known to mess up summary and summery and effect and affect. Basically all the ones that spell checkers don't spot.

midsomermurderess · 17/04/2022 16:50

I recently on here saw 'vito' for 'veto'. I don't suppose it's common. Perhaps a word heard but never seen.

IstayedForTheFeminism · 17/04/2022 16:51

License/licence. I have no idea which is which. Or how to remember.
I was told to think of then like advice/advise but that didn't help became they don't sound the same so I know which is which.

KirstenBlest · 17/04/2022 16:54

dependent unless you are referring to a person who is dependent on you.

Summery is related to summer, summary is related to sum

I’m going to be honest enough and not google, but isn’t “enrolling” incorrect, it should be enroling?

In text messages, I always notice the following (I assume they don’t have autocorrect switched on)!

Definately
Loose
Ect

On MN, A ‘feint’ line on a pregnancy test or antigen test
“Should I have a forth baby”?

NightmareSlashDelightful · 17/04/2022 16:56

I usually have to have several run-ups to ‘bureaucracy’ (and I’m a professional writer, so don’t feel too bad!)

ElenaSt · 17/04/2022 16:59

Ridiculous spelt as rediculous.

buckeejit · 17/04/2022 17:01

@chisanunian I thought it was free rein & rein it in?! I suppose both sort of make sense anyway.

Whet your appetite. Cemetery & broccoli are hard. I used to always get mixed up with address

Zazdar · 17/04/2022 17:30

License/licence. I have no idea which is which. Or how to remember.

A licence. To license. Like practice and practise.

Advice and advise are often mixed up, despite them not sounding the same.

CheshireCats · 17/04/2022 17:35

On here ect for etc.

emma1103 · 17/04/2022 17:38

People saying 'brought' instead of 'bought' drives me mad! It's two entirely different words!!

Seeline · 17/04/2022 17:39

Accommodation

I use it frequently in my work and the number of times it's missing a 'c' or an 'm' or both is incredible.

Often incorrect when outside pubs/B&Bs etc too.

KirstenBlest · 17/04/2022 17:40

On here, councillor when they meant counselor, and councilling for counselling
