Bloody Matzah!

Any fellow Jews thoroughly sick of matzah crackers already, and we're not even a day into Passover?? Just ate three for breakfast with chrayne, egg, and avocado, but still absolutely ravenous.

At least toddler DD likes them. She wasn't weaned last year so this is her first year eating them. She'll learn 😫😆

Matza with jam and cheese is yummy! Yeah I def get hungrier, weirdly not as filling as bread

SRK16 · 17/04/2022 10:08

I love it, cannot relate!

Arghhconfused · 17/04/2022 10:08

Someone made pasta out of them

PainterMummy · 17/04/2022 10:08

Love it myself.

veronicagoldberg · 17/04/2022 12:39

I don't mind them per se, it's just that they don't fill me up!

Yep. Missing bagels already 😬

NameChChChChanges1 · 17/04/2022 14:35

This is the second year I've vowed to have as little matzah as possible so eating a lot of protein and potatoes.

Oh and fancy chocolate as well as pesach biscuits instead of biscuits

NameChChChChanges1 · 17/04/2022 14:35

But matzah and Nutella is the best thing ever in the world

MadameFantabulosa · 17/04/2022 14:39

I can’t stand them. And please don’t mention the “chocolate cake” we made with them in Israel when we were there for Pesach.

My Mum is all “have you got your matzo yet?” No, no. And I won’t be getting any either.

fionaapple · 17/04/2022 14:44

Dreading going back to work on Tuesday and being absolutely starving by the time I've got there because my matzah breakfast 20 minutes before won't have filled me up one bit Sad

fionaapple · 17/04/2022 14:46

Not to mention I don't know what to bring for lunch as I don't want a reheated jacket potato and I'll still be hungry after a salad, even if there's some fish in there

JewLoose · 17/04/2022 14:48

I'm in the can't stand them camp...

So you are not alone in not wanting them anymore, but literally haven't touched any yet.

Have it with scrambled egg, that should help, and hot chocolate - the milk and protein will fill you up
Tigerteafor3 · 17/04/2022 15:01

Definitely have matzah brei for breakfast, eggs will fill you up more.

Fish balls and salad? Smoked salmon?

SiobhanSharpe · 17/04/2022 15:15

I don't wish to offend but could you make some chappati, flour tortillas or roti instead? I think they'd be more filling.
(Don't know whether it's allowed to cook or not, but if you can't cook you could get in a long life packet of chappati or tortillas to keep in the cupboard. However if you can make scrambled egg I presume it is permitted to cook? Please forgive my ignorance. )
Homemade flatbreads would be just flour and water, possibly a little oil of some kind, but no leavening. I appreciate you want to keep traditions but if you don't like the matza anyway....
Of course if it has to be kosher then this won't work for you. Sorry!

IsraelAndRoo · 17/04/2022 15:24

@SiobhanSharpe I don't think anyone will be offended as you don't know - it's not just about being kosher (for those that keep kosher) over Passover, there are other requirements as well and we can't eat bread and other leavened grains (there's a few more other things depending on where your heritage is from too)

Northbynorthbreast · 17/04/2022 16:27

Why suffer on matzo at all? Just have a protein breakfast or porridge? Matzo is basically simple carbs ie sugar, which is why you feel more hungry. It’s basically mainlining sugar.

EllaDisenchanted · 18/04/2022 08:55

Leben/yoghurt and coffee for breakfast here, and pesach cake. Matzah brei is a lot easier on digestion as well. And much more filling.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 18/04/2022 13:30

YABU - I love matzo!

...porridge? You cant have porridge during pesach.

If people don't know the rules of pesach can they GTF off this thread please instead of offering useless "advice". It's offensive.

bendmeoverbackwards · 18/04/2022 13:54

Just have a cooked breakfast without the toast. Eggs, mushrooms and hash browns, yum!

Reminds me of Pesach 2020 when I was pregnant with DD. I went to my 20-week scan and the sonographer recognised my Magen David necklace. We got chatting - she was also Jewish. It was the last day of Pesach and she told me she had a roll in her bag for lunch, as she couldn't wait any longer for some bread 😆

@NameChChChChanges1 You do realise that Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews both follow different Passover restrictions, yes?

Oats are fine according to some people.

Northbynorthbreast · 21/04/2022 13:57

@NameChChChChanges1 i am Jewish. And I eat oats during Pesach. So please don’t do the ‘offensive’ on me, ta.

I was just trying to point out that a protein breakfast combats hunger.

but anyway… nevermind. I’m obviously an ignorant and offensive goy. :(
