What are the chances of tenants not moving out?

We're moving into new rental house in May and dh is suddenly paranoid that they won't move out. I think he's being silly. They didn't look like they were moving but to be fair neither do we.ive just bought boxes. What are the chances they won't?

Can you check with the landlord a) what date the current tenants move out - there should be around a week in between for any repairs or end-of-tenancy cleaning that wasn’t properly completed when the current tenants checkout. Ask the landlord to confirm the checkout has occurred in the expected date. And b) ask the landlord about the circumstances of the current tenant - you can covet a sense of comfort if they are leaving voluntarily versus being kicked out or can’t afford to stay?

Your dh isn’t being entirely paranoid, but you can reduce the anxiety by getting more information about the situation.

Thanks I'll give the letting agent a ring next week. Hopefully they'll be out end of this month then they're repainting and fixing holes. We're moving end of May.

When I was moving (purchasing) I went to our new house on the Sunday to measure up for curtains etc. We were completing on the Thursday. The then owners had not packed a single thing. Nothing they were very chilled helping us measure etc. My house on the otherhand was full of boxes, mess, suitcases, empty wardrobes etc. On completion date, we got the keys and house was empty and they cleaned too. Please do not worry, some people leave it until last min. It didn't occur to me they could of pulled out because nothing was packed!

They may have removals coming in to pack it all. That's what we did. Nothing was packed till the day before completion. They come on, literally pack everything in a day and then on completion day they load the van and any things we needed for that night.

It's the middle of April.
It's at least 2 weeks until they might be scheduled to move out at tye end of the month. 6 weeks til you are moving in. I definitely woukdnt gave boxes everywhere 6 weeks before. 2 weeks before i might have bought some flat pack boxes.
But given we had 3 days notice that our rent wasnt going to be renewed (not in uk) and got moved in 2 day from an unplanned start, I'd probably be giving you concerns about lack of packing!

Luckily we have an empty garage to put boxes in . I'm not packing anything we need in the next 6 weeks. I just like to be organised and be able to tell the removal people how many boxes we have

Fairly low, most people do leave at the end of their tenancy, but there is a chance they won't. Nobody can say how big a chance without knowing their circumstances.
