We have a 2 year old lab. He eats sticks constantly and where we live there is an abundance. I try to distract with treats but he is obsessed. We don’t throw sticks as play so I don’t know what encourages him.
Once again, he has managed to get one stuck in the roof of his mouth. He claws and claws at it to get it out but we need to do it for him. I’m fed up of it. He is distressed and can nip your finger whilst you are trying to fish it out. I’m just fed up of it. Eating sticks isn’t good for him, he makes himself bleed because he claws at his mouth so much trying to get it out, it’s dangerous for me trying to retrieve the ones that get stuck, and I’m fed up.
What can I do? The only solution I can think of is a muzzle?
