Why are people always allergic to things they like

Poor dd has discovered today she’s allergic to horses.

She’s been desperate to start horse riding lessons so we went to an open day at the local stables.

She just couldn’t stop sneezing. She still had pony rides but I made sure she had some piriton when she got home

She’s also allergic to cats and she adores cats.

Problem is, she has asthma so we have to be careful around allergenic things.

Dh is the same. Asthma, horse and cat allergy.

If one of my kids had to be allergic why couldn’t ds be? He hates horses and big things like that. Won’t go near them.

If you are lucky she will grow out of it.

DD always used to sneeze within 20mins of being in a house with cats. We adopted a cat when she was 16 and after a few days she was absolutely fine.

I had horses my whole life, went off to Uni and came back allergic. I had to sell my horses that I adored Sad
If I take a cocktail of antihistamines and wear a snood, gloves, long sleeves etc I can just about manage a short ride but no grooming, tacking up etc.

We have a cat that we just about manage.

It’s long coated which both dd and dh cope better with than short coated.
