*Lighthearted* why do some people have it all?

Literally a lighthearted post, I'm very happy with my average life and my less than average looks 😂 but why does good luck and good fortune always come knocking on the doors of people that are already fabulous lol . I'm genuinely happy for people that work hard and do well I honestly am- I'm a big believer in supporting and encouraging people !!! Just seems a bit tough as my dh is having a dreadful time trying to get work ( the most hard working person I know) but lately everything he touches at the moment goes so wrong. I guess it's a little bit frustrating and I know things can change in an instant, both good and bad, but I wish we could catch a break. Or at least know the end is in sight lol

I know what you mean. I've been on both ends of this. When I was a student and didn't have much money, I'd have been overjoyed if I'd earned £50 take-home for a day's work; I'm now in a very fortunate position and earn a lot of money, and yet people keep giving me more! It seems like, to those who already have plenty, more is freely given; whereas people who don't have much have to scrap for every penny.

Yep I get you!

My ex husband and his lovely new fiancé (not being sarcastic, she is lovely!) have just moved into a gorgeous £1 million house. They drive flash cars and go on lots of holidays.

I live in a teeny tiny little house and drive a 10 year old car. I haven't been abroad in years. I don't begrudge them it as they work a lot of hours etc etc BUT I wouldn't mind a bit of their good luck!

I think good things are cumulative in that sense that the more you have, the more you attract too. For example if you have lots of amazing friends then you'll meet more great people through them. If you have a great career then more good opportunities get put your way. Someone physically fit often looks great and it's easy to buy clothes that look amazing if you're slim and athletic. And obviously anyone with money will find it easier to make more money by literally earning interest on what they already have, so yes... some people do seem to do well and have all the luck.

I would imagine people think I'm lucky. Have a big house, fancy car, foreign holidays etc. 2 lovely kids.
Husband is an abusive alcoholic. I hate my life. I'd love to be in a small house just me and kids with peace. Remember things aren't always what they seem. You sound like a nice person I hope your luck improves

I hear ya. The amount of people I follow on Instagram as I think they are in a similar situation to me and then it's revealed they go to dubai 3 times a year, drive a flash car and everything is designer. I must have missed the day of school when money management was taught!

I agree with this. I also think it works the other way round too, eg if you are already tired from working shifts it will be harder to cook healthy food, if you live somewhere out of the way it will take more motivation to take the DC out etc.

Flowers @whatsoccuringnow, I hope you are OK.

@whatsoccuringnow oh no, I genuinely feel for you. Thanks for giving me a little peace of reality. Not everything is as it seems for most of us. I hope your husband finds the help he needs x

@hepaticanobilis I really agree with what you say also, for example a girl I know who is beautiful posts (posy) pics of herself on Instagram and seems to get head hunted to advertise for gym wear/ weekend away to try out hotels etc. I'm a big lump that isn't attractive 😂😂😂 so these opportunities would obviously never come to me.

Thanks. I hope he does too! And thank you for not just saying LTB I've tried but it's not that easy. I do agree some people attract good luck but I think its swings and roundabouts. Honestly even most of his money is borrowed and he is so unhappy in himself, but I'm aware that people think we have it all. I just paddle my own canoe with the kids and try to remain peaceful where possible!
