Just wondering if it’s any good? My kids are older (9 and 12) so not sure if they are a little old for it ?

@wutipg We haven’t done it in Rothiemurchus but have fed them in other places in Scotland. DS was probably 13 the last time we did it and still loved it. Things might have changed now but for the last 2 years you had to drive part of the way in your own car (Covid) then walk the rest.

The activities that I would definitely recommend are the high ropes course (DD was 9 the first time she did it), the quad bikes for your eldest and horse riding. I’d also highly recommend their Cullen skink!

We’ve stayed in Aviemore the last two summers so happy to recommend other places / activities if you need them.

Rothiemurchus, Aviemore. The reindeer is actually a few miles outside Aviemore up past Loch Morlich in a place called Glenmore.

I haven't been, but all ages go from what I've seen.

Where else in scotland does reindeer feeding? I wasn't aware of any other than at Rothiemurchus.

OP your DC aren't too old!

We did the walk up the hill where you go to find them in the field-is that where you mean? It was fab, quite a walk right enough. Our DD was just wee when we went but it was really lovely and they were so tame.

We did it, it was great. Bit of a hike but great fun and the reindeer were lovely. My children were 9, 12 and 14.

Is anyone too old?
Confused
Never!!

TattiePants · 13/04/2022 21:47

@Chatwin Galloway Forest Park is a good place to do it. There’s a red deer range just off the man forest road where you can take along a bag of carrots and feed them at any time. Twice a week (Wednesday & Saturday possibly) you can book a session where you go in amongst the deer, feed them and learn about them).

We also did it at Blair castle a couple of years ago but that was a more casual thing.

@Wutipg if you are looking for some other activities then the snow tubing on Cairngorm was good and hopefully you’re too early for the midges! The walk round Loch an Eilein (about 5km) was fab, water sports on Loch Morlich or bike hire through the forest park. If you have a car, Fort George near Inverness is worth a visit. We struck lucky and saw quite a few dolphins in the Firth.

Thanks I will look at these ideas
