amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/apr/13/mother-woman-murdered-dressing-as-goth-dies-suddenly-sophie-sylvia-lancaster-

Apparently she was ill but it was still unexpected.

I met her several times as I quite like metal and rock music and she campaigns and has stalls at a few gigs/festivals I've been to or go to. Lovely lady R.I.P

Apologies if there is already a thread, I couldn't see one.

Oh my, this is really sad.

Cheekymaw · 13/04/2022 19:37

May she rest in peace. I hope she is with Sophie now ,free from harm and worry

Georgeskitchen · 13/04/2022 19:47

Rest in peace Sylvia. A strong and courageous lady. She was interviewed on the news not long ago and she didn't look well at all.
Reunited with her beautiful daughter 💕 💗

Organictangerine · 13/04/2022 19:48

How sad. Her daughter’s murder was appalling, I hope they’re reunited now.

Rubyupbeat · 13/04/2022 19:50

This is very sad, she was a lovely woman who I met quite a few times at music festivals. I hope there is life after death, so she can be with Sophie.

Patchbatch · 13/04/2022 19:50

I'm not particularly spiritual but I read it and thought I hope and wish she is now reunited with her daughter. Her legacy will live on, she did so much good in the wake of such an awful tragedy to try and help others.

AnyFucker · 13/04/2022 19:51

Have shed a few tears tonight for this lady and the tragedy she dealt with in her life.

HedgehogToes · 13/04/2022 19:52

Rest in peace Sylvia, reunited with your girl Flowers

A580Hojas · 13/04/2022 19:54

I was so sad to read this today. She was interviewed by Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 very recently and seemed so vital and still keeping her daughter's horrific murder in the public domain. An incredible woman, may she rest in peace.

Saucery · 13/04/2022 19:54

She brought so much out of the horrific circumstances of Sophie’s murder, to inspire and educate. A great loss.

TheAntiGardener · 13/04/2022 19:55

One of a select group that nobody would ever want to join - inspirational and impressive women who campaign for change after their children suffer terrible violence or injustice. I was sorry to read this news today.

NiceTwin · 13/04/2022 20:00

Terribly sad.

We are local to where she was murdered and had the Sophie Lancaster Foundation do a presentation at school. Her brother fronted it and also did question and answer sessions with each of the year groups.
It was so, so moving and a very worthwhile event for the pupils.

Annesally2 · 13/04/2022 21:38

She was such an inspiration. And so friendly despite how terrible the circumstances were around why she was meeting people :(

So sad what a lovely lady. Black Rose the film about Sophie is a beautiful film so sad. She had so much courage in her campaigning.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 13/04/2022 21:50

That is so sad. I always thought she was so brave with her campaigning work.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 13/04/2022 21:55

That is really sad.

The poor woman had unimaginable pain in her life, the trauma would take from her health. 💔

I hope there is another side where they hugged again.

My DD is a goth, she doesn't go out much but it is a worry knowing the area and Sophie's tragic ending.

Lowhum · 13/04/2022 21:58

That is very sad. 💐

Coffeeonmytoffee · 13/04/2022 22:03

Heartbreaking. She was an amazing woman. I hope that evil man never has a moment of peace.

Bobbybobbins · 13/04/2022 22:06

I heard her on Radio 2 recently and was in admiration of her strength.

Blossomandbee · 13/04/2022 22:11

This is so sad. It was in the news recently she was struggling with the upcoming release of her daughters killer. It's all so horrible and unfair. May they both now rest in peace.

DoingAway · 13/04/2022 22:12

Very sad to hear this.

JudgeRindersMinder · 13/04/2022 22:24

Same here-She was so eloquent
goaskmum · 13/04/2022 22:39

So sorry to hear this. Very very sad. May she rest in peace and if there is an afterlife, I hope her and Sophie can both be at peace together Flowers

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/04/2022 22:58

I heard that before. RIP Sylvia. Reunited with your beautiful Sophie x

BobbyBleu · 13/04/2022 23:03

I was lucky enough to meet Sylvia and she was a wonderful woman. She spoke beautifully and passionately to a group of young offenders, and the case and her words have always stuck with me.
I was so sad to see she had passed but I do hope she is reunited with her beautiful daughter.
