Help me identify a song I've forgotten! (Very, very vague)

There is a song I used to listen to a lot in probably around 2004. I don't know whether it's from 2004 or earlier (but I don't think it was that much earlier)

It has that kind of indie, angsty sounding male singer vibe that was popular then - similar to Death Cab for Cutie, or a more acoustic version of Foo Fighters, or Snow Patrol.

I just have a tiny bit of it that comes into my head and I can't remember the lyrics properly or any of the rest of the song but I loved it and it brings back memories of carefree lounging around in fields :o

The only bit I can remember is something like:

"A sense of fills my mind" (possibly the "something" is silence, or solace)

but I'm not even sure that is correct Blush This was part of the chorus/bridge and was the first part of a couplet that rhymed, maybe "intertwined" or "entwined" for the end of the second line but I can't remember.

The singer has an American accent and kind of sounds like he's singing through gritted teeth.

No idea but I bet someone will come up with it in a flash!

EmeraldShamrock1 · 12/04/2022 11:24

No. Place marking for the answer.

TheSpottedZebra · 12/04/2022 11:26

Yeah, what they ^ said Grin

I thought of Hoobastank straight away but the lyrics don't fit AT ALL.

LizBennet · 12/04/2022 11:28

Trouble by Ray Lamo range?

LizBennet · 12/04/2022 11:28

Lamontagne even 🙄

BertieBotts · 12/04/2022 12:10

Hoobastank is definitely the right kind of thing. Not Trouble.

I will go and see what Hoobastank there is on Spotify and report back!

I can "hear" the bit of the tune in my head but can't think how to represent it on here.

OK no, none of the Hoobastank songs on spotify are right.

Aah I'm intrigued now, hope someone knows it.

NeededAction · 12/04/2022 12:12

Its so frustrating when that happens, but the relief when you find the song (and listen on repeat for 4 hours.. just me?!) is immense!!

Hopefully someone wise will know which song you’re referring to! Best of luck in your search

Oh I found it!! Somehow making this thread had made me remember the next bit of the song.

It's Feeder - Forget about Tomorrow

(It was a sense of freedom :o)

Not even American :o I blame that fashion of singing with an American accent everyone had then...

If you can hum it there are apps/music recognition stuff that gives you close matches of songs, Dh did it once with me and Ds laughing at him as he was half humming half singing as he didn't know the lyrics, he laughed too, still found the song.

TheSpottedZebra · 12/04/2022 12:14

Hurrah, you win!

JunhaLamra · 12/04/2022 12:15

Yay, love it when you find a song/book that has been unidentifiable until the power of MN.

sarahlouise3009 · 12/04/2022 12:17

@BertieBotts

OK no, none of the Hoobastank songs on spotify are right.
What about switchfoot? Meant to live was the first song to pop into my head
crosshatching · 12/04/2022 12:18

I loved Feeder! Comfort in Sound is still one of my favourite albums!

LizBennet · 12/04/2022 12:18

Yay 🥳
