I want to buy one as a new home gift for the dds who are 12 and 9. Which games? What's a good level of games to buy with it? 3? 4? Any recommendations of packages? I know this will be a few hundred quid

My dc are sometimes happy playing the cheaper games that you download for a couple of pounds. The spendy ones they've loved have been mario kart and just dance.
It came with the ring fit one which is good too.

If they can try games in a shop before buying it will give you an idea of which ones will be a disappointment

Depends what sort of games they like. Mine like Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Zelda, Mario etc and they tend to be anywhere between £40-50 a game.

When you have your Switch, lots of the games have free trial versions so you can have a go before you commit. The games are always more expensive to buy through the Nintendo e-shop though they do have decent offers on the cheapy games.

You'll also likely need the online membership - we have family and it's about £32 a year.

Thanks I had no idea there were free trials! That's a good idea about trying in the shop thank you

We have a switch with no online membership so the costs are just the set costs of buying the console and whatever games we buy.
Minecraft is a good game and becuase it's not new, relatively cheap compared to the other games.
Something like Mario Party or Mario Olympics which has lots of mini games as well as longer games so that it doesn't have to be a long gaming session, they can dip in and out.
Legend of Zelda if they like more traditional gaming type games.
