On Friday I got badly sunburned as it felt quite cool and had a nap in the sun and for very badly burned (canaries 22 degrees ish)I was wearing a plunge swimsuit and shorts.

No sun cream at all very stupid I k ow and I have ruined the holiday so please no more chastisement as I'm pretty upset! Feeling foolish.

Now the burn on my arms and legs are going brown. Chest and shoulder sr red but no longer hurt except for a patch between breast whet the two underwires sit (can't wear a bra).

This patch has a weird white tinge discolouration to it and I am a bit concerned as it so painful.

Can anyone advise what will happen now what to look for and how to treat it. Have aftersun, aloe Vera body lotion and some steroid eczema cream.

Do you feel unwell? Chills or fever?
Otherwise, pain relief, keep hydrated, moisturise the skin and keep out of the sun for a few days.

Have you developed any blisters?
Any fever or shivering or chills?

Take paracetamol. Get in the shower on a very cool setting, just let it run gently, sit down and let it run to get all the heat out of the burns. Then aloe vera.

But if your skin is blistering and/or you feel unwell, then go to hospital.

Thank you @Beamur I don't feel unwell with fever or chills. I had that about 30 years ago so know exactly what you mean.

Just this single painful patch that is a white colour compared to the rest. I think this so virgin never exposed skin so is exceptionally raw? Is that possible?

Sorry. I read that without taking in the full details.

If it was on friday then you're out of danger. Blisters would already have developed and probably popped by now! So you're fine.

Just cool showers, keep putting on your creak and keep skin covered. No sun!

ImWithMuriel · 11/04/2022 23:03

No judgement, I have been there and felt equally as foolish. It is probably not recognised advice but I find soaking a towel with cold water and sleeping with it over the hot areas helps lots, sudacreme was also a god send for me. Hope you feel better soon.

@BeforeGodAndAllTheFish thank you so helpful again.

No sun is such a pain I'm in a maxi skirt, Shirt and baseball cap and look an absolute fright.

Raw tomato is an old Spanish remedy for sunburn and blisters

Spanish pharmacies are also good for remedies

Keep going with the cool showers, aloe vera and make sure you stay hydrated and stay in the shade

Natural yoghurt cold from the fridge...really helps

Shaving foam one with menthol works brilliant on sunburn. DAB it on sit with it for as long is possible then rinse off

Beamur · 11/04/2022 23:19

I think you might have a second degree burn if it is white. It will take longer to heal and there's a risk of nerve damage. Going to a pharmacy is a good idea.

Thanks everyone. A huge blister appeared after a shower tonight and then popped before I got chance to show it the dh.

Still Very sore in this one spot and day 5 now :( at the plunge point of the costume so always covered but I can't wear a bra so in a wireless bikini top.

Quick update if anyone is in a similar situation. Continued being hot and very painful with no improvement. Couldn't wear a wired bra or lie on my front to sleep. Went to the pharmacy in Spain then again when I got home. They told me to call 111 and ended up going to a and e. (OOH phone doctor couldn't be sure from photos was a big area and said need looking at and May or may not need treatment) I was so embarrassed but needn't have been and everyone nurses and doctors kept reassuring me we've all been there !

The pain was quite extreme (hot tight and sore)and the skin had about 5 different weird textures/colours! The lovely a & e GP gave me antibiotics And the relief the next day after starting them was indescribable.

Everyone was so helpful. Thank you
