Mole removal tomorrow, theatre Wednesday?

Help! I am having a suspicious mole removed tomorrow morning.
We have tickets to The Cursed Child for Wednesday, so a pretty full on day. Should I cancel? DD will be devastated if I do, but she would also be unhappy if I am sore and tetchy. We can move our tickets until 10am.

I had two moles removed from my back a few years ago. It was done in aGP surgery by a dermatology specialist ( if my memory is correct) Wouldn’t have known I’d had anything done, no pain, no inflammation, no itching.

Xpologog · 11/04/2022 21:04

Meant to say good luck. You’ll feel pulling, slight tugging but shouldn’t feel any pain. Dr, nurse and I chatted all through it.

Crumpetsandpancakes · 11/04/2022 21:04

Hi OP I have had moles removed twice and went back to work right afterwards, it was two moles the second time. No pain really, although they weren't huge. Three stitches each.
Hopefully you'll be OK and will enjoy the show!

I've had 3 removed so far and I would say it depends where they are and how big. I had one removed each from my arm and lower back which were fine, went back to work that day. However I also had one removed from my chest which was really painful because that area moves around so much.

PicpoulDeMeNay · 11/04/2022 21:08

I’ve had 3 moles removed, one from my leg and 2 from my back. I had 3-4 stitches each time, but no issues at all, just a bit itchy after a few days.
They put a waterproof dressing over the stitches so nothing rubbed or anything, and just told me to take paracetamol when the local anaesthetic wore off, if I needed to. I don’t remember taking any!

MatureStudentToBeMaybe · 11/04/2022 21:08

Where is the mole? That may make a difference. I had one removed from my foot and wouldn't have made the theatre afterwards, but apparently it was a particularly awkward location.

OctopusSay · 11/04/2022 21:11

My boss had three done 9am and was back at work by 11am. They were on her chest and arm.

WeAreTheHeroes · 11/04/2022 21:16

I had a suspicious growth removed from my shoulder - a plastic surgeon did the op as it was in a tricky place. There were around 11 stitches. Absolutely no pain afterwards. Go to the theatre!

Astitichintimesaveswine · 11/04/2022 21:17

I've just had one removed from my chest, 8 stitches. It was quite sore that day, but ok with painkillers. I think I would have been fine to go out the next evening. Just be very careful you don't pull your stitches.

ronswansonstache · 11/04/2022 21:18

Where is the mole? I've had a malignant mole removed from my breast and I was in bed for a couple of days!

I've also had moles removed from my back and ear and carried on as usual, barely noticed any discomfort.

Probably depends on the removal method too.

MissMaple82 · 11/04/2022 21:26

No of course not, you'll be fine

NeedleNoodle3 · 11/04/2022 21:31

I’ve had 6 removed (5 malignant) and it varies. I find it painful about 7 hours after the removal. If it’s on your leg you may not be up for a lot of walking the next day. I’ve had one removed from my shin and one from the back of my knee and they were painful for a few days. Others on top of thigh were ok.

Mollymalone123 · 11/04/2022 21:51

Totally depends where mole is coming off of.I’ve had one years ago on my back removed and had stitches after and that was fine.Had one removed from my toe last year and that was not fine and had to keep foot up for quite a while

mumofEandE · 11/04/2022 21:53

Hi I had one removed on my back - I went straight to work after minus my bra but I was younger and 'Pertier' so it was ok!

BettyOBarley · 11/04/2022 21:56

It will depend on the size / location. I've had two small ones removed from my back with a couple of stitches each and would have been fine going out the next day.

MargaretThursday · 11/04/2022 22:52

I had 4 removed as a child. I was back in school an hour later.
You'll be fine.

The worst biggie removing the stitches.

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 11/04/2022 23:20

Thank you very much everyone! It is from my upper chest/neck and I am really dreading tomorrow.

AnnaSW1 · 11/04/2022 23:28

I think it would be absolutely fine.

CarrieMoonbeams · 11/04/2022 23:36

I had one removed from my face last year.

I won't lie, the local anaesthetic stung like a bastard, but after that it was absolutely fine. It felt slightly tight for a wee while but not painful at all.

Good luck!

bluesky45 · 11/04/2022 23:40

I've had Miles removed a few times. Fine at first, bit sore after a few hrs when the anaesthetic wears off but could still get stuff done. Bit worn out by the evening. Fine the next day. I would think you would be fine to go to the theatre

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 11/04/2022 23:52

Poor Miles Grin

All done, wasn't too bad. However I am still numb so might update later!

SpinningMeSoftly · 12/04/2022 12:59

How many stitches?

My last two removals had 6 each.

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 12/04/2022 13:08

The paperwork says 4 but it looked like more. I wasn't paying attention when she told me Blush
Will confirm in a couple of days when I take off the dressing

How's it feeling now? Like pp said, it's whether it pulls when you move that seems to affect the pain element.

Ive got one on my leg that's fine, but the one on my abdomen still hurts. Painkillers help though when necessary.

Hope you have a good time at the theatre with your DD if you go Flowers
