Worried about Kinder Egg recall

I've just seen that Kinder products have been recalled due to potential contamination. I bought my son a 3 pack on Friday and he had 1 Friday and 1 Saturday. Will of course throw away the third but I'm worried about the two he had (emetephobia making me worry even more).

Does anyone know if he would most likely have shown symptoms by now/how likely the contamination is?

I think people get poorly quite quickly if they’re going to, like food poisoning.

Thank you, I thought that but NHS website says up to 6 days which took away my reassurance!

Have you checked the date on them to see if they were affected ones? They were being recalled earlier than Friday so really they should have been removed from sale before then, if they were the affected ones.

I think if you bought them on Friday they should be a safe batch as the recall was before then.

Incubation period for salmonella is up to 3 days. Usually within 2 days. 6 days is probably an extreme outlier.

DS ate one of these, he was fine. I don't think anyone has got ill from them.

I believe all dates are being recalled now, I have some I was saving for our Easter egg hunt, although they are within the safe dates I won't be using them now. If anyone has bought them you can email Ferraro for a refund, it may take a while though.

I've got 2 packs of these I bought them a few weeks ago and Kinder have said in a comment on their Facebook page that these aren't affected. I don't know whether to just bin them or if they will be ok?

@PivotPivotPivottt take them back to the shop you got them from don't think you need a receipt because it's a safety recall

Thats what my mum said to do but I wasn't sure whether I could take them back as they aren't on the list of recalled products. Think they were only £2 each but in these days every penny matters.

They have published the batch numbers of the affected lots, the rest are fine.

I had food poisoning as a child and the effects hit within an hour of eating the dodgy ice cream. I was hospitalised for almost a week so it wasn’t something and nothing. I wouldn’t risk eating them personally. Bought DS one of the justice league 100G ones for Easter but won’t be giving him it. No response from Ferrero though and I’ve emailed for a refund twice…

Hopefully people will stop buying them. Horrible chocolate that tastes of plastic and then the plastic tat itself which ends up in the bin in seconds minutes. Such a waste of resources.

Just buy your kids a chocolate bar instead!

Worriedmum40284 · 12/04/2022 21:45

Thanks all, that's reassuring. I hadn't thought of that (them being recalled prior to Friday) so unlikely to be affected.

I've had a look for the batch numbers but couldn't see them, are they on the Kinder website?

@Tillerman we also has the Justice League one ready for Easter - I haven't contacted Kinder yet, suspect they will be overwhelmed with emails but hopefully you hear back soon.

Just take it back to any supermarket for a refund.

I did mine today, no receipt needed.
