Had to move home in January to be my mum’s full time carer . Was in student accommodation that I’m still paying for .
My GP was in uni city - 160 miles from mum . Still registered there as they said to hold my registration, I was on several waiting lists and am now under their MH team who are seeing me over near me and said that’s absolutely fine.
My mum’s GP surgery said they were happy to prescribe meds as they knew - and social work told them - no alternative . I can’t leave my mum at all, I can’t get respite . The Hope is in six weeks I can return to uni but that things need to stabilise at home first .
I need repeat meds every four weeks (anti depressants and beta blockers) .
Mum’s surgery have just said they will no longer prescribe them .
Uni GP won’t prescribe them without seeing me first .
Can’t get respite to allow me to do the 320 mile round trip and can’t realistically do that regularly as costs a small fortune on public transport .
I’ve got enough meds for two more weeks .
I’m not sure what I do . Uni GP said they can’t help me unless I show up there face to face, Mum’s GP won’t see me . Both are within their rights .
Social work are saying I can’t move away as mum can’t yet live safely alone even with carers . It would take weeks of planning .
I don’t want to deregister as I’ve just started mental health help with uni GP’s MH team but don’t know what to do . Can you get a private GP to prescribe repeat meds - both surgeries are saying they can’t help? I don’t even know if we have one near here .
I don’t know if the answer is to beg social work for help, travel down the road to get meds and travel straight home for as long as I need to be at mums?
