Those gates in the fences by the motorway

They always make me think of the gate behind the shrubbery at Pole and Scrubb's school in The Silver Chair.

Where do they go? Are they locked? If so, who has the key(s)?

Oooh! I dunno. I'll have to have another look next times
But, yes, where would they lead to?
You're onto something here.

As an aside... as you leave the M25 motorway , Leatherhead way I think, there's this giant black , windowless dome. For over twenty years, whenever we passed it , I'd wonder what happened in them.
Secret experiments? A secret government laboratory? An astrodome?

Turned out to be a road grit storage unit. I was so disappointed when I found out.

I hope that you aren't similarly disappointed.

... this giant black, windowless dome ...
It stores sand/salt/gritting stuff for gritting the roads.

I can answer this! We went through one and walked by the motorway until we climbed up onto a bridge and back onto the path. It wasn't locked just led to the scrubby verge bit.

So it didn't lead to Narnia? Sad

How come you went through it?

Just curious on a walk - the footpath goes right next to the motorway and we thought we'd see if the gate opened.

So they're simply foot access to and from the motorway, and open onto land that is accessible to the public.

How reasonable. How practical. How prosaic.

If only they led to Aslans country though...
