Dominos Pizza - how much to order?

MerylSqueak · 11/04/2022 11:16

I know this sounds totally stupid but I haven't eaten or ordered any kind of takeaway pizza for about 20 years. I have promised 14yo dd she can have a Dominos as a treat for working really hard for her an exam she had. She'll be sharing with two other teens.

How much pizza should I be looking at ordering between them.

3 hungry teens?

At least 2 mediums and a few sides.

I'd go for 2 large and 2 sides. Keep leftovers in the fridge.

aSofaNearYou · 11/04/2022 11:18

I'd order two large pizzas between three, but I'm quite greedy when it comes to pizza! If they don't eat much, maybe two mediums.

ENoeuf · 11/04/2022 11:19

My two mid teens eat a large between them with a side of garlic bread. Average sized kids fairly active.

3 teens would need at least 2 pizzas and maybe some sides. It depends entirely on what they want to eat though as they might not all want the same toppings on their pizza.

I'd download the app and let them look at the menu. They will be much better able to work out what they want than you guessing.

MerylSqueak · 11/04/2022 11:20

Thanks very much! I didin't want to look mean or spend more than I needed but had no clue. Very helpful.

DD has given me to understand that garlic sauce is non-negotiable!

As a treat one each (at least a medium) plus a few sides. Use one of the offers to bring the cost down.

Nnique · 11/04/2022 11:22

The garlic sauce comes as standard with the pizzas I think.

Lavenderlid · 11/04/2022 11:23

Remember you won't have to pay the price on the menu, there is usually a 40% or 50% off offer.

aSofaNearYou · 11/04/2022 11:23

I'd get the extra big pot of garlic dip, you'll only get 2 if you order 2 pizzas and they'll want one each.

Pyri · 11/04/2022 11:24

Yeah I’d do the 2 large pizzas, 2 sides deal

Just here for the:
“Dominos is VILE why not use a local indi instead”
“Dominos is DISCUSTING / greasy / flabby no wonder there is an obesity crisis!”
“Why not give them something similar that’s not similar in any way at all like a bowl of whole meal spaghetti?”
“I’d order one small between 4 and then still have leftovers for the next day. Anything else is greedy”

Definitely order the big pot of dip! It's very morish. Grin

I’m hungry now. Angry Grin

NewYorkCityDreamer · 11/04/2022 11:29

Whatever you do, don’t pay full price!!!
There are always offers for dominos just incase you didn’t know

Lavenderlid · 11/04/2022 11:31

I don't know if I'm impressed or horrified that you've got to 14 before ever giving in and ordering pizza Grin

TibetanTerrah · 11/04/2022 11:36

Pizza leftovers are lovely, but some of the sides reheat better than others. I always over order takeaways, its better value and you get leftovers. Win win.

AHungryCaterpillar · 11/04/2022 11:39

For my kids I would do 2 large and 2 sides, definitely get extra sauce as the pots are tiny.

Hugasauras · 11/04/2022 11:47

The garlic dip is the best! Def buy extra. Wedges and chicken strips are a non-negotiable in our house too.

Not so much that, just there must be 895 threads on this already! And why can't adults work these things out for themselves.
nearlyspringyay · 11/04/2022 11:50

2 large and chicken poppers and the potato things, extra garlic dip any leftovers for breakfast. Do not pay full price!

BarbaraofSeville · 11/04/2022 11:59

Definitely check for offers. You should be able to get it on 2 for 1 or 50% off or a bundle.

But not all pizzas are included in deals, so watch out for this as you could end up paying more money for the same amount or even less food if you don't use the deals to your advantage.

You'd probably have plenty with two large pizzas and a side or two, unless the friends are boys who according to Mumsnet will eat a large Dominos pizza as a starter before going looking for more food.

MerylSqueak · 11/04/2022 12:25

Thanks all. I now feel fully equipped to negotiate the website!

@Lavenderlid - it's mainly because DD is a wizard cook. She loves making pizza and DS doesn't like pizza unless it's hers. We all like other stuff too so we usually get that instead. But this is her treat and it's what she's chosen so he's been told to join in or lump it. Unsurprisingly, he's joining in.

Yesterday we got two large pizzas and two sides for 2 adults, 2 teenagers. £29 on a deal I think. We were all absoutely stuffed but nothing left over.
