Asked my kids which planet they would visit

We have a game on walks when we pass a massive boulder they can stand on, we ask them a question eg favourite colour, country they want to visit etc.

First time today I asked "if you could visit any planet, which would you pick?" They said the moon -not a planet but meh- and Mars.

It's was so odd to then say to them, actually, it's entirely possible that you could do that. Mental.

I mean, obviously, astronaut is a crazy idea for a job and I'm not suggesting they will, but it's weird to think that in their lifetime, humans will probably walk on Mars, humans may return to the moon, and actually, it could be them. Or a friend. Or a stranger.

For some humans, in the next 80 years, it will happen. Some 7 or 10yo today will walk on Mars in the future or the Moon.

Yes I think man will walk on Mars in the next generation or so. However it will be very few people. We first landed on the moon over 50 years ago and only 12 people have ever walked on the moon. I don't think we will be colonising any planet in a meaningful way.

My kids would answer Uranus every single time, guaranteed

I came on this thread especially to mention Uranus but you got there first.

The Mars thing is crazy though OP. Did you know that if you go to Mars you can't come back though because the gravity stuff weakens your heart or something and you'd die on Earth. So that kid going to Mars would never return Apparently. My sciency friend told me.
