I am having a pill endoscopy camera procedure tomorrow.
The procedure requires a prep medication the day before. It’s 200ml of Picolax.
I took it at 4pm and it started working around an hour later (been about 6 or 7 times since!).
2 years ago I had a colonoscopy and had to drink about 3 litres of a different prep which cleared me right out and by the end it was running clear. I remember it not being much fun but had forgotten just how horrible it was.
The leaflet says they don’t need as clear a bowel as with a colonoscopy so hence only 200ml for the pill camera.
I just wondered if anyone has had this amount of prep before and how did you react to it?
Sorry if TMI but I’ve been about 6/7 times so far, the first two were quite explosive but now I’m just passing thick brown liquid, although the last one was explosive again. But as soon as I come out of the bathroom and lay back down in bed my stomach makes the most awful sounds and I feel the need to rush back but nothing happens, I am up and down like a yo-yo!
I suffer from awful anxiety and I am worried I’ll get no sleep and need to go throughout the night. I have to be at the hospital for 8.30am and I am concerned the prep will still be working then, it’s a good 20-30 min drive to the hospital.
Any tips or advice to get me through?
