Lighthearted - dress as your favourite song

Looks like we will be heading to a party with the 'dress as your favourite song' theme in May. I usually hate themed parties but the organizers are genuinely the best hosts and their parties are always amazing, fun, never awkward. Does anyone have some creative ideas? DH, me, son and daughter. Family themes or individual ideas very welcome...

Black Velvet (alannah miles) but a bit hot for May.
Blue Suede Shoes.
We are Family (sister sledge) no dressing up required!

I've currently got Saturday Night by Whigfield in my head so I can't resist suggesting you go in a bath towel with a towel wrapped round your head.

I'll come back when I have more sensible ideas.

Kim Kardashian masks, cushion down underwear, Fat Bottomed Girls.

Years ago a friend turned up to a similar themed party wearing shorts, and his knees made up to be scratched and bloody.
Nobody guessed his song which was Neil Diamond's Love on the Rocks....

You could go as the Ghostbusters! Thats a song too.
Or the Village People, technically a band but everyone associates the costumes with one particular song.

Devil (Devil Woman - Cliff Richard, I'm sure other Devil songs are available if you don't want folk thinking you like Cliff)

You could wear a red dress and be The Lady In Red (although good luck persuading anyone that's your favourite song)

DH could dress as The Boxer (Simon & Garfunkel)

Your daughter, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, covers Somewhere over the Rainbow or Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

A queen carrying a weapon of some kind (Killer Queen)

One of the kids in a pillowcase (or sheet, I don't know how big they are) with the Ace of Spades painted on it

Cat (Whats New Pussycat)

Superhero (Heroes - David Bowie)

Black and White (Black or White - Michael Jackson)

Audrey Hepburn (Breakfast at Tiffany's)

Sunbird24 · 10/04/2022 20:43

The A Team - Ed Sheehan
Handbags & Gladrags - Stereophonics
Maneater - Nelly Furtado (shark/tiger?)

Men in Black.

Shiny happy people.

I am the walrus.

Don’t fear the reaper.

ElenaSt · 10/04/2022 20:53

Crocodile rock.

Topbird29 · 10/04/2022 20:57

Like a virgin - go as a nun.
Men in Black - go dressed as men in black.
Angels by Robbie Williams- all go as angels
Holiday by Madonna- all go in beach wear.
Got 99 red balloons? Maybe some with each family member?

Topbird29 · 10/04/2022 20:58

Like the suggestion by pp of the a-team!

Ididanamechange · 10/04/2022 21:02

Mines sit down by James so I could just find myself a comfy seat and not move all evening

Topbird29 · 10/04/2022 21:28

"Walk like an Egyptian" by the bangles..
"Gangstas paradise" - dress like in a mtv video
"I come from a land down under" (or whatever the name is), by men at work.
"Club Tropicana" - beach wear
"Gold" - spandau ballet. All go wearing gold.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/04/2022 21:29

Well, what ARE your favourite songs?

SiennaSienna · 10/04/2022 21:32

Remus, my mind went blank as soon as she mentioned the theme Grin. I’ll need to have a think

Better to think of a song you like and work from that, than just random songs.

SiennaSienna · 10/04/2022 22:19

I don’t mind random if it’s clever!

Don't have a shower for a week and go as Christina Aguilera's Dirrrty
