Car for 5 adults, but not necessarily a 7 seater.

I thought we would fair better once we were out of the child car seat stage, but now we have three teenagers!
I would like recommendations for 5 seaters with three full size back seats please.

Yes, 7 seaters are probably the answer but in reality it's a pita to get in and out of the third row (and the 3rd row is often ridiculously small anyway!)

We now have a Kia Sportage which can take three adults across the back seat (I did this week taking a group to a meeting).

Citroen c4 Picasso, 5 full sized seats and lots of legroom (ours isn’t the 7 seater model)

I have a SEAT Tarraco, it has three decent seats across the back (it's a VW Tiguan Allspace in SEAT clothing)

Watching this with interest. I currently have an old picasso but it's showing its age so looking to think what we could get next. I love the fact it has three full seats in the back. My dc are 2, 6 and 10 so am also wondering how on earth we will fit three teens and a dog into a not humongous car!!

If you're looking secondhand, the VW Sharan/Seat Alhambra. Unfortunately, these are no longer available new. The VW ID.Buzz may be an electric alternative but it isn't on sale until later this year.

The Mercedes V-Class is a van turned car and is quite pricey, but has 6 large individual seats.

We had a Ford Galaxy, which comfortably took 3 adults across the middle row. I know, it's a great big box of an MPV, but it was a very good car.

In all our car-hunts, the only ways we found to get 3 adult-size seats across the back were MPVs.

We have a Mercedes Vito was great for when we had 3 teens at home.its roomy easy to drive and park and they hold their value well. Have converted it to a camper now.

We love out Prius Plus for this, it is a 7 seater but we rarely unfold the back 2 but 3 adults sit comfortably in the second row and it doesn't have that bump in the middle footwell. .

I've a skoda superb estate, lots of legroom in the rear, no problem with three adults and so much boot space. I did go for the top spec so heated/cooling rear seats, incredible sound system etc but any model is good in my opinion. I absolutely love skoda for some reason.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 10/04/2022 15:07

Berlingo? Like a milk float but has three individual seats.

lookforthesun · 10/04/2022 15:09

Peugeot 5008

Has 3 full size seats in the back which is quite unusual. Most cars have the middle seat a bit smaller than the rest.

frugalkitty · 10/04/2022 15:10

I had a seven seater Renault scenic when my three were little, and was tempted to have the five seater version but we couldn't find the spec we wanted at the right price at the time. My three teens fit in the back of my Honda jazz ok. Do bear in mind the hump in the middle of the floor (this might be in automatics???) as with DHs car, this is a bit of a nuisance. DD gets the middle seat now her younger brother is bigger than her Grin

I had a Citroen C4 grand picasso when my 3 were younger, traded it in recently for a VW Sharan. I have 3 tall teens and a dog. They fit in the rear 2 seats too which are easy to access.

You can get the C4 in a 5 seater which is comfortable but not massive. Might be worth looking at the VW Touran too, it's a 7 seater but not as big as the Sharan.

GeneLovesJezebel · 10/04/2022 15:55

Renault Scenic or Citroen Picasso

TeaandHobnobs · 10/04/2022 15:59

We have an S Max but almost never need to use the 3rd row of seats, so they are always laid flat meaning we have a brilliantly large boot.
The C max Grand (if that is still a thing) has 6 seats with slidey back doors (3 rows of two seats) so the back row is much easier to get into.

Thank you for the suggestions, I have been so busy looking them up on auto trader that I just realised that I had forgotten to follow up on this post Grin
