Really stupid question about minecraft on the kids Amazon tablet

DS was given one of the Amazon kids tablets. He doesn’t use it very often, but we’ve got covid and feel really rotten and he wants to play minecraft, like he’s done before.

We’ve turned the tablet on and can’t find bloody minecraft. I even downloaded what I thought was the same minecraft, for t princely sum of £4.99, but it’s not the right one. The one I downloaded seems to be the ‘grownup’ version that allows the chat box etc.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about and can possibly help? I just want to cheer DS up a bit Sad

I think we use the most basic Minecraft which is 'Bedrock edition'.
I think it updated itself since we installed it so it had more animals and things.
I can't remember if we had to turn off the chat feature or not when we started using it.

As I recall, I think you have to turn off chat in the user account which is the most painful thing ever - Microsoft could not have created a worse family interface if they tried ... and I wonder if they did...

Thank you for your replies, I really appreciate it! I can’t figure out why I’ve had to download and pay for the Microsoft one today, when he was playing a different more basic version before.
