Which of these 2 jobs would you choose?

A is my current job, B is an opportunity that I am considering. Which would you choose? Not using voting because on the app and app doesn't have it. Thank you for opinions and advice

Job A

£43k per year
25 days hol plus 8 bank hols
6% employer contribution pension
WFH mostly which I like
Line manage a lovely team
Nice boss although less nice but OK boss back from mat leave soon
Career progression notoriously hard here, already knocked back and behind lots of others in queue probably for promotion (current nice boss given me a big project to help with this though)

Job B

£51k per year
35 days hol plus 15 for bank hols
11% employer contribution pension
Workplace 15mins commute, some flex not much probably
Team and boss unknown
Requires undertaking training and qualifications which I'm not that bothered about for their own sake but would allow me to access this job and more opportunities

A feels like, stay in a very nice job but don't expect much progression. B feels stressful, the unknown but maybe a great chance? WWYD?

Unless WFH is particularly valuable to you, I'd go for B.

Octoblockisadick · 09/04/2022 16:20

Personally I would probably choose b, but I'm not a massive fan of wfh. A 15min commune isn't bad at all, but it does depend on how much you will need the flexibility that you would lose.

B

DC starting school in September so I wouldn't get to do as many drop offs, pick ups myself with B but we are lucky and have a great childminder who does school run.

B

Moonlaserbearwolf · 09/04/2022 16:29

Probably B.
Will your new work pay for you to do the extra qualifications whilst you work there? Or do you have to complete them before you apply for job B?

girlmom21 · 09/04/2022 16:29

I'd go B. If you don't like the role you could walk away in a couple of years with a qualification and career path.

£7k, 10 days holiday and 5% higher pension contributions counts for a lot!

h0tXberns · 09/04/2022 16:30

It's funded by the new job and to be done on the job.

B

HotChoc10 · 09/04/2022 16:32

The extra holiday would be a massive sell for me! I'd go B too.

shinynewapple22 · 09/04/2022 16:33

Exactly what girlmom says. Plus 15 mins is a very short commute and as you have the extra leave this will help if you need to balance the WFH with taking any time off for your DC.

LoudingVoice · 09/04/2022 16:36

B, more money, training & opportunities- 15mins commute is nothing, take the new job!

Daftasabroom · 09/04/2022 16:37

B for the holiday and pension. 11% of £51k is more than double 6% of £43k.

QuebecBagnet · 09/04/2022 16:44

B. More money, more holiday, more pension, more progression. a small commute.

SummerHouse · 09/04/2022 16:48

B for brave. You know it too. Flowers

h0tXberns · 09/04/2022 17:55

Thank you for the big kick up the bum everyone. I've put my application for B in ShockSmile

B - sounds like a better long term prospect with more opportunities to progress.

A sounds like you could get stuck in a rut.
