Help does anyone have a switch and is not a luddite

Have spent over an hour and ds 7 is struggling to be patient now. I have connected the switch to the tv and the joy controllers work fine with the menu but not in any games. Can anyone advise ? Ds would be very grateful.

Is the HDMI cable attached to the TV? Can you turn it on/off? Have you switched the TV to HDMI 1? Are the games downloaded?

Yes it works fine with menu settings etc it’s just when you click on a game that the controllers stop responding. They are downloaded so the games open but you can’t move within the game. It’s really odd, it hasn’t done this before.

Go back to handheld mode do all the menus work then? Then put in Dock and try again.

Sounds like a big in the game losing the Controllers. Which game? Try repeatedly pressing the index finger buttons in the game to see if it picks up the controller with that.

Also in the settings menu you can update the joy con's software. Worth doing every now and then.

Take the controllers out and in again?
