Breaking Bad question - don’t read if you haven’t watched!

Late to the party as ever and have recently been watching this. I’m on series 3 now.

What was the bit all about where all those villagers were dragging themselves on their stomachs towards that shed thing? Why on their stomachs?

And what was the altar all about? Were they worshipping Heisenberg or damning him?

And why did the twins turn up at the village (same one? Different one?) on another occasion and donate their car keys to the goat?! Didn’t get that bit at all!

@lapasion

I think in that scene they are praying to the unofficial saint of traffickers, Jesus Malverde. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesús_Malverde

Definitely watch Better Call Saul once you’re done. Ozark also has similar themes to BB, but more on the money laundering side. The first couple of seasons of Narcos are great too if you’re not completely bored of drugs by that point! I got really into reading about Pablo Escobar for a couple of months after seeing the show.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember the bit where Walt jr (who I also love) is reading the book about Pablo Escobar? Totally true what Hank said about people remember the baddies but not so much the goodies!

@JesusInTheCabbageVan I’m excited now about Better Call Saul!

I watched BB at the time and I have no recollection of anything you just put happening. Guess I am in for a treat when I decide to rewatch this :)

Oh it's my all time favourite ❤️
I'm due a rewatch 👍🏼

Nailest · 08/04/2022 23:01

I keep changing my mind about whether I like Walt or not. I think not.

I dare anyone not to fall in love with Bob Odenkirk after watching BCS.

He nearly lost his life during season 6 of filming, so that was a thing.

Always a comedy performer/writer and well known in the USA.
Breaking bad was his first serious acting role and he's forever amazed with the path he's now on.

Well bloody deserved imo!!

This. And not to spend minutes at a time utterly transfixed by Kim's ponytail (in fact it's someone's username on here).

I don’t think I have ever been more excited about a new season of a TV show. Better Call Saul is amazing. It’s coming in two parts and I think I’m pleased because it’ll make the joy last longer.

My OH just started rewatching it I thought I wouldn't be interested as I was so tense watching it the first time, but it's a brilliantly scripted and acted show that I think I might join in!

OP DON'T READ THE LATEST POSTS (just in case you're reading this on Threads I'm On....)

I've asked MNHQ to take down the spoiler posts Smile

cakeorwine · 09/04/2022 09:33

Reported myself.

But not a good idea to post about a TV series though if you've not finished it....

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 09/04/2022 10:58

@cakeorwine I know, in fairness, I'm surprised we got to page 2 before it happened! I nearly posted a spoiler myself earlier.

Nailest · 09/04/2022 13:35

Thanks for getting the spoilers removed! I did a bit of spoiling for myself yesterday when I was trying to find out more about the characters, and read something about season 5.

I loved the dynamic between Walt and Jesse in series 1, not liking it so much in series 4.

I don't remember that scene at all. Think I need to rewatch.

Fuck you and your eyebrows

I love their dynamic. I also love how their characters almost swap places - at the start Jesse is the 'bad boy' and Walt the good guy, as time goes on you really see this change and Walt becoming someone that Jesse doesn't agree with. They're just written so well!

@JesusInTheCabbageVan - just seen your pm and tried to reply but can’t for some reason. Just wanted to thank you for being so kind and thoughtful, really appreciate you doing that!

That's OK! I still remember my anguish when I completely ruined a huge development in Game of Thrones for myself (my own fault) and Breaking Bad would have been so much worse!

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 09/04/2022 17:30

I ruined an episode of GoT by looking up where I knew Stannis from, just before I watched the episode 😑

Nailest · 09/04/2022 20:06

I’ve just watched the episode where Walt and Skyler sleep together again. I’ve decided he repulses me! He has creepy nipples. That’s today’s cutting and insightful critique of my Breaking Bad journey.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 09/04/2022 20:09

"Creepy nipples" 😭😂

Nailest · 09/04/2022 20:11

They’re very prominent and warty

Nailest · 09/04/2022 20:12

To redress the balance, Walt junior is very good looking though.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 09/04/2022 20:14

He is, very handsome.
