Period question - sorry might be TMI

Why is my period blood a dark brown colour? I had a google and it says that its normal but can also be an early pregnancy symptom so now a bit concerned..?

I had a copper coil fitted right at the end of my last period so not sure if that had an effect, maybe it trapped some old blood behind it thats now come out...?

But its my third copper coil and ive never ever had anything other than red period blood so not sure if its connected to this.

Its started right when my period was due to start but its only light spotting - yesterday there was a bit on a pad but other than that its only noticeable when I wipe.

Is this something i should be concerned about?

I get at least some dark brown blood most periods (usually at end) and always have done. I assumed it just meant that the blood has taken a bit longer to make it’s way out? I mentioned a change in colour of periods to gynaecologist recently and they said it’s not something they worry about.
But probably best to take a pregnancy test if normal period doesn’t appear and see GP if spotting continues.

I always start a period with a little brown blood. Some women get spotting with implantation, but it's not as much as with a period in my experience. Of course, that's all relative, if this a new phenomenon to you then you won't have a comparison point. Best of luck!
