Dh has peed blood

And we are both worried sick as googling has brought up a whole load about all types of cancers including prostate.

We called 111 last night and the nurse that triaged him has prescribed him antibiotics for a suspected urine infection but also really stressed following it up at the gp. I didn't even know men can get urine infections.

He says his testicles are quite sore and painful and he's peed blood several times yesterday but not today. He's started taking the AB and I am hoping and praying it's just an infection.

We have young dc and I've had cried on and off since yday. I don't think I could cope with any horrible news. I've lost both my parents at a fairly young age and he's all I've got.

I guess I'm just looking for a hand hold because I don't really know what else to ask. I can't really think straight since he's told me.

How did it go today @worriedsicktonight? Sorry I haven’t had chance to message til now. Yes I know what you mean about keeping distracted and busy, it’s definitely a coping mechanism! Hope the hospital went ok earlier.

worriedsicktonight · 14/04/2022 23:22

Hi @nevergoesaway 💕 it went ok, he's had the scans now so it's just a matter of waiting.

Dh says he's feeling much better, the bleeding has stopped and the pain is much less.
Praying it was a kidney stone that has been and gone !

Aww this is good news!! Do you know when he’ll get his results? Let’s hope it was something like a kidney stone, it’s very reassuring that he’s so much better.

How are you feeling in yourself?

Hopefully the results won't take long.

worriedsicktonight · 14/04/2022 23:49

Yes definitely looking positive isn't it ? I know dh is feeling very worried, he's asked me not to tell anyone and we're going to his parents tomorrow evening, it's going to be hard.

I didn't get much sleep last night, must have slept around 5am and then up for 9 to go with dh to the hospital ( I insisted on going otherwise I would have been a wreck at home, even though I knew we wouldn't get any results today, doesn't make sense really but it does in my head!).

I went to the gym after that as I had my session booked and had a nice long shower after and a quick nap so feeling a lot more rested and peaceful tonight.

That’s good you went with him I bet he appreciated that a lot. And understandable that he doesn’t want his parents knowing at the moment, maybe that will just make it more scary for him somehow?

Gym, shower and nap all sound like good ideas at the moment, I’m so glad you feel a bit less panicked. Hopefully your dh will be even better tomorrow and good results will follow soon 🙏
thinking of you 💕

worriedsicktonight · 15/04/2022 23:21

Thank you @nevergoesaway 💕

We went to dh's parents house today, got back a while ago. Dh has been having abdominal pains again today.
I guess we won't hear anything back from the scans now until Tuesday at the very earliest.

Hi I know he’s gone for further tests and thing but I had a kidney infection that gave me all the symptoms your partner has (except replace painful testicles with that fanny falling out feeling) and I had to have 3 different types of antibiotics before it finally went away. So fingers crossed for you it’s just a little lingerer like I had.

And I totally get your stress, my partner had a TIA a few years ago and I was absolutely beside myself, hed couldn’t have given less of a shit 😂

mandalaj · 18/04/2022 23:09

Any update OP?

worriedsicktonight · 04/05/2022 23:43

Hello all!

I've been trying to come back to post for an update but couldn't find the threads im on with all the changes and shenanigans , but finally managed it today!

So I have some amazing news!!

Dh went for the camera test and it was ALL CLEAR 😭 oh the relief was really something else!

We were SO worried going in, they're usually not allowing members of the opposite sex on the single sex wards but the nurse saw our faces and slipped me in quietly - I honestly could have hugged her but I would have burst into tears if I did ! (Plus it would have been really weird ) Everyone there was absolutely amazing, making us hot drinks and being very lovely and reassuring. I honestly think they took pity on the petrified couple sat shaking in the corner, we must have looked a sorry sight for sure.

So he's had the prostate and bladder checked, however he needs to return for the prostate blood test in a weeks time, now.

Also, we're still waiting on the CT scan results, which was of the kidneys of course. Still worried but a whole lot reassured compared to before.

We've just had a letter through from dh's consultant to say the CT scans are through and they are all absolutely fine ! So so grateful and relieved beyond belief!

Great news OP. DH had a similar scare a few years back and his family don't have a record of good health so I was very worried so I totally understand.
