I survived the dentist. 💪

This sounds so pathetic but I was really worried about going today. Luckily I didn't need a filling but even a scale and polish is quite traumatic for me... the lack of control, the saliva hoover and dry tongue, the squeaking sound of the filer thing... the poking of sharp instruments around my gums. My teeth are now squeaky clean and I'm having a large vodka to reward myself for going and doing it when I really really didn't want to. Go me.

Go you OP. Enjoy the vodka. I also hate the lack of control even though I know it’s illogical.

I also had to go to the dentist today and didn’t sleep well last night - partly because of the pain but partly because of dentist dread. Have been prescribed metronidazole for an infection so I can’t even celebrate with a large drink.

Well done. It's such a stressful experience. I was there yesterday and it really is a lot to put up with.... I am thinking of having a large vodka beforehand next time, but I don't think it would go very well...

I have nearly a full tattoo sleeve so not afraid of needles at all but i HATE dental injections. I had 2 fillings last week and opted against the anesthetic, he did a scale and polish after and i thought that was more uncomfortable! Flipping hate work done on my teeth, deserves a vodka all day long!

Jovanka · 07/04/2022 17:26

@ImJustMum - you have fillings WITHOUT AN ANAESTHETIC?? Shock Drilling and everything? Shock Shock

stimpyyouidiot · 07/04/2022 17:35

Op well done. I have such a horrible fear of dentists that it took me over 10 years to go to one.

I also had my bratty kids messing about in the waiting room as DH has fucked off on a corporate work jolly all week so that was stressing me out. Now feeling much better and will cook some nice dinner soon.

invasion that vodka ( perhaps two?😁) Is well earned. My husband has fillings without anaesthetic, except for the last one which was very far back and the Dentist insisted he needed one. Personally I don't mind the dentist but always have a sticky bun afterwards!

@jovanka yep, cant stand it. Ive inherited a resistance to it, takes a massive dose and AGES to kick in. Had the same problem with epidurals aswell so just dont bother! Took 10 minutes vs the half hour plus the stuff would of taken to work and i would of been numb for hours.
